The managed switch from D-Link is mainly recommended for large professional networks. It offers the ability for an admin to configure its parameters regarding security, traffic prioritization, remote error correction, and other features. It has 24 ethernet ports with a maximum speed of 1Gbps. It features Power over Ethernet (PoE) technology, which allows it to simultaneously transmit power and data over an Ethernet cable. This specific model supports PoE (802.3af) and PoE+ (802.3at), suitable for high power requirements of devices such as IP video phones, HD PTZ IP cameras, and small audio speakers. It can be rack-mounted, suitable for placement alongside others to provide many ports for an office network.
The smart managed switches of the D-Link DGS-1250 series offer value as an access/aggregation solution for businesses and small to medium-sized businesses (SMB). They provide a range of physical interfaces, multiple management interfaces, 11 web languages, QoS enablement, and Advanced Layer-2 w/Lite Layer-3 features. The DGS-1250 series switches support 24 or 48 x 10/100/1000BASE-T ports, with each switch additionally supporting 4 x 10G SFP+ ports for optical connections using multi-mode or single-mode SFP transceivers, allowing true network horsepower.
The DGS-1250 series supports dual image and dual configuration functions, as well as a console port, facilitating configuration, troubleshooting, and other changes without network operation interruptions. The Command Line Interface (CLI) function allows remote configuration without the need for an Internet connection. The supported Spanning Tree Protocols (STP/RSTP/MSTP) help maintain network operation without interruptions.
The DGS-1250 series supports Auto Voice VLAN and Surveillance Mode, allowing automatic recognition and handling of voice and video traffic differently from regular network traffic. Auto Voice VLAN detects Voice over IP (VoIP) traffic and automatically segments it from the rest of the network, increasing security and allowing the application of Quality of Service (QoS).
The DGS-1250 series offers Power over Ethernet (PoE), simplifying deployment with IP cameras, VoIP phones, wireless access points, and other devices. Using the switch's management interface, an administrator can control various PoE functions, such as remotely rebooting cameras or access points. All PoE models support IEEE 802.3af and 802.3at standards.
The DGS-1250 series comes with IGMP snooping, Port Mirroring, Spanning Tree Protocol (STP), and Link Aggregation Control Protocol (LACP). The IEEE 802.3x Flow Control function allows servers to connect directly to the switch for fast, reliable data transfers. The series also supports advanced features such as static routing, allowing communication between different user groups in different VLAN segments.
The DGS-1250 series comes with the D-Link Network Assistant (DNA) utility, allowing administrators to remotely control their network down to the port level.
