Description

When Thomas discovers a strange old tree at the edge of his grandfather's garden, he doesn't think it's important. Nevertheless, he takes the strange fruit of the tree home with him – and then he gets the biggest shock of his life when a tiny dragon hatches from the fruit! The tree produces dragon fruit, and thus the boy gets his very own dragon, Lampis… Thomas quickly learns that life with Lampis is full of fun, but also very… unpredictable. Yes, dragons are wonderful, but they also set your toothbrush on fire and hang your underwear on the TV antenna and poop in your dad's cereal. Thomas will have to learn how to take care of Lampis – and quickly. And then something amazing happens: the tree produces more dragon fruit… The dragons in the story are the friends every child would like to have. They are creatures of exceptional beauty, different from one another, and share characteristics of the child-owner's personality, as if they are a mirror of their character. The book manages to touch on topics such as diversity, school bullying, ecological awareness, and family bonds in an indirect and clever way. Rich educational material is available for the book.

Author Biography

Andy Shepherd, an author dedicated to creating books for children aged 8 to 12, captures life and adventures in a unique way. Based in picturesque Cambridge, she looks beyond the granite buildings, seeking the horizon of the sea that fascinates her. The pages of her books resonate with her voice, with her words coming to life with color and imagination.

She lives in a world that brings vivid images, close to Cambridge, with her partner, their two sons, and their loyal four-legged companion, an enthusiastic and playful Border Collie. Her daily life is imbued with love for her family and the unexplored charm of seaside life.

In her free time, Andy does not limit herself to words alone. She engages in an effort to bring the magic of Cambridge closer to the sea, exploring ways to combine the charming urban landscape with the vast blue.

Her first work, "The Boy Who Grew Dragons," is a journey into the world of fantasy, where characters come to life and adventures unfold like dreams awakening. Through her joyful and flamboyant writing, she invites children to discover the magical world hidden within the pages of her books.

Review this product
  • Incredible book series! With humor, tenderness, adventure, and beautiful messages. It is written for ages 8+, but it can captivate a younger child (5-6 years old) if they are familiar with longer texts. The 5th book of the series will be released in Greek in September 2022, and we are eagerly awaiting it!
