The "Latin-Greek Dictionary" by Errikos Oulerichos (1807-1843), who was the first Professor of Roman Philology and Archaeology at the Kapodistrian University of Athens, was published in 1843. The late Stefanos Koumanoudis, also a Professor of the same subject at the same University, enriched it lexically and reissued it three times, in 1854, 1864, and 1873. He marked the once-used words with an asterisk and those derived from Christian texts with a cross. In 1884, Professors Io. Protodikos and M. Vianginis reissued the dictionary, enriching it with 5,000 new words.
In the last two decades, the dictionary was reissued in phototypic form by Grigoris Publications, without the Prefaces and based on the 1884 edition, and Georgios Tourlidis added the short dictionary of Synonyms and Antonyms of the Latin Language. The correction of any typographical and other errors, the need for a modernized typographic page appearance, and the re-pagination of the Dictionary necessitated the re-typesetting of the Dictionary in its current reissue.
