Description

We talk a lot about the rise of populism and globalization; about insurance and development; about internationalism and ethnocentrism. But all of these are the music of the past. To dance to the future, we need a different rhythm. The authentic political product of the 21st century, which even its opponents admit is "the fastest growing political movement in the West," is Political Philozoia.

For most people, the term philozoia refers to a kind and somewhat eccentric way of life. It is presented as an excessive emotional attachment to animals, usually companion animals, kittens and puppies.

"Political Philozoia" goes beyond this well-intentioned behavior. Our basic position is that from now on, a person's attitude towards animals will determine all major political issues. The protection, well-being, and liberation of animals from human oppression will ultimately determine whether we will have war or peace, democracy or autocracy, prosperity or poverty.

This claim certainly seems exaggerated. It does not "fit" with any of our experiences. Our worldviews resist the idea that the relationship between humans and animals can be significant for politics. We have accustomed animals to the margins. We see them as furry anthropomorphic forms in apartments; as sacks of raw materials on farms; as rare sights in the "wild" nature, suitable for the documentaries of the poor and the safaris of the rich.

In any case, we always perceive animals as appendages of humans, who have the unquestionable right to life and death over them.

This is indeed the world we have inherited. But it is not the one we will pass on.
