The operating principle of activated carbon is a combination of mechanical filtration and adsorption through activated carbon. The carbon block is made by pressing carbon powder with a binding material. Activated carbon from 100% coconut shell – all materials are quality tested for food contact. The multi-layer carbon block provides a large active surface for the adsorption of impurities.

Unpleasant taste and odor, chlorine (water disinfectant), and organic impurities are absorbed. Among these are certain insecticides (e.g., diurone and atrazine), herbicides, and water disinfection by-products (Trihalomethanes). The latter belongs to the group of VOCs (volatile organic compounds). Heavy metals, such as lead, cadmium, asbestos, are absorbed by the built-in collector. Microscopic solid particles that cause turbidity are filtered through the micro-pore structure of the carbon.
