Timed in ten minutes, I had bright red coals without any problem. You just fill it up and put a large cube of kindling underneath. You forget about it for ten minutes and then spread the coals on the grill
As seen in the photos, unfortunately the Bormann BBQ1005 was damaged during its transport or during its packaging in the store. I brought it myself in about the condition it should have been. These things happen. It's a minor issue for the intended use.
I tried it about 2 times.
It does what it says.
I found the distance between the inner grate and the ground to be too large. It loses volume for the charcoal.
The handle gets very hot though. It needs a coating for protection.
We'll see how long it will last.
But what expectations can you have with such a low price...
Wrap the handle with aluminum foil and it will withstand much more because plastic melts, of course, hold it with a towel or kitchen glove when using it.
It does its job very well and it is very durable! I wonder why some people have broken the handle, probably due to misuse!
Sturdy construction, does exactly what it is intended for. The holes all around help a lot for the charcoal to breathe. One filling up top takes about 15-20 minutes to completely burn the charcoal so it is ready for grilling.
If I could change something, it would be the capacity. I would like it to hold a larger quantity of charcoal so that I don't have to prepare two batches. Not that it is necessarily a bad thing, because when the second batch is ready, you can add as much as you need and keep some aside if you need to add more.
However, if you have a large grill and need a large quantity of charcoal, you will definitely need 2-3 fillings of the container... For a regular-sized grill, the container is perfect.
In the first use I made, the handle melted and stayed on the glove. I had bought a similar one from Weber. I decided to get a second supplementary one, but cheaper. I hope it goes well. The charcoal lit up fine otherwise. Let's see what we will do with the handle.
Very good. I don't grill often, but I wonder why I struggled for so many years to light charcoal!!!
You simply light the ignition and you have ready charcoal in x.... time, depending on the charcoal. For now, the handle that I hear melts, it's not a problem. But even if it melts, it doesn't affect anything.
Just like I read in other comments, it's good to open it and turn the grill so that it takes more charcoal and also lights more easily....
The handle burns easily after a few uses, but it is convenient and fast. If a wooden handle is attached, it is perfect
The product, as it comes, has the mesh upside down. It would be good to turn it upside down by unscrewing the 4 screws it has, as I did. It can now hold more charcoal and lights up quite quickly, I would say. The handle needs attention because it gets hot as soon as it lights up.
Very high-quality product!!!! It simply requires more kindling for a better ignition!!! The mesh that holds the charcoal is a bit thin than it should be!!!
I was skeptical at first, but it is very fast and easy to ignite, nothing like before! 1-2 newspaper sheets or a firestarter underneath and it's ready! You need to hold it with gloves, of course, because the handle gets hot. Also, if you want to cook for many people, you refill it on the spot while you have already started with the first batch! In the short time that I have had it, it has not had any issues. I preferred the one with screws instead of clips, so that if something breaks, it can be easily replaced
Much better than the classic lighter! It ignites the charcoal beautifully and evenly, and you don't get burned when emptying it. And very economical, compared to what you can find in specialty stores.
Great help for lighting. Within 10 minutes, the coals turn red. The only thing someone needs to be careful about is to "refill" it because as they burn, the coals decrease. Unless you use briquettes. Once you empty it onto the grill, it cools down in 2 minutes and is ready for storage
Fair for its price but for few demands. If you bake more than once a month, get something better.
Small, for a good baking you need two ovens because they are not enough at all.
The second time I baked and had to prepare charcoal for the second time, the plastic almost melted and loosened a lot.
Of course, I have endured it for about two months with weekly use.
If you want something good, spend twice the money, otherwise consider it as disposable

Very good, the only flaw is that the plastic handle easily burns if you're not careful

It takes about 20-30 minutes for the charcoal to light up. Small for a built-in BBQ.
