Sturdy construction with good quality cable. I have no complaints so far. Purchased 2 months ago. Mainly used for editing and general image processing. ️
Very easy installation. Even my mom, who has no idea, can do the setup.
With Samsung SSD it works at the expected speeds connected to iMac, booting the operating system from there!!
-Generally, Ugreen is a good brand, I have many different peripherals/accessories from them and they work as they should.
-At the first connection, the speed may go up to ~40MB/s (Read/Write) but this has to do with how the PC's chipset handles it; after a restart while connected, it reaches the highest speeds of ~450MB/s (R/W) (I used a Crucial BX500 SSD 240GB SATA III - internally in the PC it goes 500-550MB/s)... which is the actual maximum of USB 3.2 gen 1 (*USB 3.0) that is my port, it does not set a limit due to the enclosure (it is supposed to reach 900MB/s since it is advertised as USB 3.1, but the limit of SATA III is 600MB/s), however, I do not have a better port to test.
-Also, the blue strip in the photos is an activity LED (fortunately, it's not one of those that blinds you)
-50cm cable
-Purchase price 15.50 €
In the future, I may update the review to mention the lifespan (Everything dies!)
No screws or anything are needed to put in or take out the disc, and it keeps it secure. The best thing ever!
Very good quality and beautiful case. Strong disk application inside and easy opening - closing.
Satisfactory speeds.
Only negative is that it adds extra volume to the disk but within reasonable limits.
This is the second Ugreen product I have purchased and it seems that the company has excelled in the triptych: appearance-functionality-price.
The appearance and design are exceptional for the price. Fortunately, it is not the cheap metal construction where if you are not careful, the thin metal will cut your hands... On the contrary, the case is plastic but nicely designed and the disk fits perfectly and adjusts easily. The case opens and closes easily with a simple push, without screws.
The cable is short, as unfortunately almost always happens with these products.
The speed is satisfactory for me. Of course, I have not yet tried different disks. A medium Patriot SSD worked at speeds around 350 MB/sec and for the backup I needed it for, it was great.
The case is worth the money, with ease 5 stars.
Flawless so far, I have installed an old 240g SSD and it ran the operating system of my old PC. I completely emptied it, transferred all the music from the old HDD due to the purchase (finally) of a new PC, it simply connects immediately and plays, it is perfect for what I use it for. I will get another one for the new, larger SSD.
Very good quality materials even in the cable, perfect fit with 2.5 disk, worth its money.
Everything looks OK as soon as I got it on time I will write again .. It was mostly for recording the speed of the case .. Close the disk defragmentation in windows to reduce the lifespan of SSD disks
A case that you have to tear open to get the product. In other words, it has not been opened. Careful construction. Good that it can hold both 3.5 and 2.5 inch disks. It works with electricity but also comes with a transformer. I think it's the best for the money.
Plain plastic ... simple construction
but:
- the disk (ssd crucial 1TB) works perfectly
- I haven't experienced any freezing so far
- It is very easy to put the hard drive in the case, without tools, without hassle.
- It has cushions around where the hard drive goes for anti-vibration protection.
For this price, I think it is one of the best options
Simply flawless, and durable. (It has been running for over 3000 hours). Purchased for 15 euros. I have had a very good experience with Ugreen in the past. So, I work with a disk using Ubuntu for work, switching between laptop and desktop EVERY DAY multiple times and for 9-12 hours a day. It works flawlessly every day for 9 months. I did not expect it to last so long. When you buy an external controller for a disk, you know that you will use it for 5-6 hours a week. (and they still break) I had it as a system disk working half a day every day and it didn't hesitate.
Beautiful design, user-friendly, and with very good performance! Works great with an SSD. It delivers everything it promises at a very reasonable price (16€). I'm already thinking of getting another one.. I highly recommend it without hesitation!
4 stars only and only for the price. At 16 euros that I bought it, it seems borderline for value for money.
Nevertheless, I am completely satisfied. It does everything it promises. Flawless.
Excellent case. I will buy it again. Very high quality and excellent that it doesn't have that silly plug and has USB-C.
The construction may be plastic all around, but it is of good quality. I haven't dropped it to say if it's durable or not. I use it for a 2TB HDD and I am completely satisfied. Easy to install and fast performance.
It seems like a reliable external hard drive. My old HDD has now been converted into an external backup drive with just a few bucks. I was considering buying an external one until I found this and saved myself. The HDD is stable inside and doesn't move at all. The installation is super easy, like inserting a disk into a laptop, but without screws.
I bought it because of the USB Type C charging and its modern design.
The drive fits very well.
I like this company, it has quality products. I am a regular user and I wanted a case with Type-C, and since my new laptop supports it, everything is nice and faster now. I have also bought 2 cases with Code CAYPH-A01 (the same, just without Type-C connection) and they are excellent as well.
Very good and value for money! I installed an old Samsung SSD and it flies. I recommend it for transfers or system imaging.
Amazing product! UGREEN is a quality and emerging brand. Both the cables and chargers are top-performing. I tried this specific enclosure because the previous ADATA (see photo) did not fully recognize the enclosed SSD and did not allow SMART DATA execution from the disk (probably due to a strange USB-to-SATA bridge). The UGREEN solved my problem! It not only recognizes the specific SSD (it has even more margin as the enclosure specifications are 6 gbps), but its excellent USB-to-SATA bridge allows SMART DATA to pass through to Linux, as stated in the manufacturer's specifications! It also has a very nice operating LED indicator. The disk fits perfectly inside. The exterior is not "rugged," so I don't know what survival chances it would have in difficult falls. I bought 2 and I am satisfied with their price and performance. Buy with confidence.
The construction is plastic, but the disk fits well. There is a blue light that shows the activity of the disk. Easy opening of the case, without it happening accidentally. It comes with a type-c to type A cable as shown in the photo
For USB connection, it is good at 300m/b for type-c 40m/s. So if you want it for USB, it's okay, but for type-c, get something else...
The only negative thing is that in the package there is only one usb-c cable (from the device) to usb 3 (of the computer). If you need to buy a usb-c to usb-c cable, make sure it has USB 3.1 specification, otherwise the disk may not be recognized by the operating system.
Yes, but.. the plastic construction quality, which is not so sturdy, is a downside. I imagine the durability over time or in a small fall.
Stable operation nonetheless and small size, while the TYPE C connection is a very positive feature that exists.
You gain something, you lose something.
It does what it promises. The disk fits securely in the case. I can't comment on heat as I use an SSD disk. As for the material, it doesn't look cheap but it's not at the top of aesthetics. Overall, I am very satisfied with the purchase.
From the speed it reaches USB 3.1 protocol, meaning 680mb/s if you have USB 3.1 or Type C Gen.1, otherwise it is limited by the disk or the port.
It can also work with a Type C to Type C cable.
It is perfect for use with Raspberry Pi 4, back up, cloning, Linux, VeemAM, VMWare.
The only negative thing is that Samsung Magician and Western Digital Dashboard can see the disks but cannot perform Trim and Over Provision.
