Before, I used to buy sweeteners from supermarkets, in which I needed 3 full spoons for a sweet coffee...
Now, with just a little at the edge of the spoon, my coffee is exactly how I want it and (I repeat) without any weird aftertaste..!
It definitely is not 1:5 as they say in the other comments. As I mentioned above, I needed 3 full spoons for a (quite) sweet coffee and now I put less than 1/5 of a spoon.
I can now calculate how much I need to put in the other preparations (doughs, sweets, etc.), it just doesn't work for sweets that rely on beating together with some amount of "sugar" to bind - it requires some variation in ingredients for such preparations. Not that it matters of course - I just point it out.
I am very satisfied, great taste, quality and it is also cost-effective, as it is something that will last for several months.
Bad aftertaste. Wrong recommended ratio.
1) I made jelly and used the recommended ratio (1:5). Okay, I have never eaten anything sweeter in my life. It was so sweet that it made me feel sick.
2) I am making galaktoboureko. This time with a ratio of 1:10. I try it. The ratio is correct, but the taste is very strange. When you eat the dessert, at first you think it lacks sweetness, then you feel it, and then it disappears again. And this keeps happening as you eat. It's like it doesn't "blend" with the other ingredients. And the worst part: the aftertaste. After finishing the dessert, all the sweetness that I couldn't taste before suddenly hits me. No matter how much water I drank, it wouldn't go away. And besides the sweetness, there is a very strange aftertaste (not bitter) that I can't describe. I had to eat something else (salty) to get my taste back.
Note: I don't know if it's the product itself, erythritol, or stevia that is to blame. I have no experience with similar products.
The taste is quite sweet. With a sensation of crystalline sugar. It belongs to the polyols with studies in recent years differing regarding the side effects from their use. Therefore, definitely consult your doctor before possible use.
The taste of it is a little different from regular sugar, just like fructose or aspartame. However, it is not bad, just a little different. It doesn't have any bad aftertaste or anything like that, as others mention in comments.
The ratio to regular sugar is about maybe a little towards 1/6. So, for example, I used to put a spoonful of sugar per cup, now I put it on the tip of the spoon and I'm fine.
Personally, I have been quite satisfied in combination with the corresponding powdered stevia, and I no longer buy sugar.
It is the best stevia, out of all the ones I have tried so far. It is strong and economical. To make a strong frappe, medium to sweet, with two full spoons of coffee, I add about 1/5 of a teaspoon of stevia.
In coffee, you don't notice much of a difference from sugar, but in other things like milk, cream, etc., it has a different taste. It's not bad, just different and you have to get used to it. However, this happens with all the stevias I have tried.
For desserts that need to rise, like cake, it doesn't work because it doesn't allow them to rise at all and they remain uncooked.
But for my tea, I prefer stevia leaves, which have not undergone any processing and give an additional aroma to the tea.
You buy 1 kilogram and you have it for at least six months for the use I make of it. It is for me a 1:7 - 1:8 ratio. It takes a little experimentation to find the ratio, but the taste is great and it dissolves easily. I haven't had any issues with it.
After a week of use, I have to say it's very good. It is sweet enough, which is beneficial because I can use just a spoonful and it will last for about 5 months, maybe even more. In everything I have tried, I haven't noticed any strange taste, it's like sugar. Only in coffee, unfortunately, it doesn't taste like sugar, but it still has a sweet taste. What can I say, for someone who wants to cut calories from sugar, it's perfect!
The best stevia I have tried... It is worth it because it is 1:5 and has a nice taste... Like every stevia, it takes time to get used to it.
Do not approach. In this ratio, it is not 1:5 but 1:25. I put in the sweet spoonful's tip in 500m of milk to make cream and it turns it into a mess, since the scale doesn't even measure a gram for me, I put in 10 grains. You can't measure it and it has a bad aftertaste, not metallic, something else and the same smell.
