It is ideal for cold sores! Tested for years now, my dermatologist in London taught me about it. More zovirax and more fenivir! It doesn't let the sore go through its weekly cycle. As soon as you feel a cold sore coming, carmex makes it disappear. One try will convince you!
It is a very good lip balm. Because it contains salicylic acid, it exfoliates the dead skin, softens it, and easily removes it without pain, injury, blood, dehydration, or infection. It softens and moisturizes the lips, leaving them perfectly softened afterwards. It has a vaseline-like texture, but with a more buttery note, although it remains slightly sticky. The negatives are the menthol and camphor it contains, which create a mild tingling sensation, as well as the intense shine (since it is in a tube form). It smells like vanilla mixed with camphor.
It is the best lip balm in terms of hydration and how it looks on the lips. BUT for some reason, it excessively burns my lips and I gave it to my friend and she had the exact same problem. It leaves the sensation of a lip plumper and I have never left it on my lips for more than 20 minutes because it burns too much. I might be having some allergic reaction, but I would never buy it again.
