I have both Google Home (the bigger sibling) and Nest Mini, so I will compare the two:
- The Mini is more aesthetically pleasing.
- It listens to you slightly better than the Home (at least that's how it seems to me).
- It can be wall-mounted (it has a built-in hole to hang it on a nail on the wall).
- When you put the Mini on the wall, it has good bass.
- When you play music on both the Home and the Mini simultaneously in two different rooms and you move from the Mini's room to the Home's room, you will notice that the Mini does not have bass and sounds like an old radio.
- Then you go back to the Mini's room and see how small it is, and you completely justify its sound. You tell it that it is very good and sounds perfect, and you go to listen in the Home's room...
Ultimately, it's a matter of usage and requirements. For example, the Nest Mini is very nice to put in your bathroom or next to your bed, while the Google Home you would put in the kitchen or living room (if you don't have something bigger there).
Also, it has been possible for a while now to have two Google Home or Nest Minis in stereo mode (previously only possible with Home Max), so perhaps there are some more usage possibilities opening up...
Έχω συνδέσει το κλιματιστικό και την τηλεόραση, καθώς και μια έξυπνη πρίζα τα οποία χειρίζομαι σχεδόν αποκλειστικά με τη φωνή μου. Μπορείς να πεις στην τηλεόραση να παίξει την τάδε σειρά στο νετφλιξ, να χειριστείς την ένταση και να ανοιγοκλείσεις τη θέρμανση στο σπίτι (κλιματιστικό) και τα φωτά (έξυπνη πρίζα). Το ηχείο του είναι πολύ καλύτερο από μιας σονυ 50αρας τηλεόρασης κατ εμέ και άνετα γεμίζει ένα δωμάτιο. Λειτουργεί ως ξυπνητήρι, χρονόμετρο, ειδοποιήσεις κλπ. Αν έχεις πάνω από 1 μπορείς να στείλεις μηνύματα φωνής από το ένα στο άλλο σαν γουόκι τοκι. Επίσης συνδέονται και μεταξύ τους ώστε να παίζει η ίδια μουσική σε όλο το σπίτι.

Έχει ένα δίμηνο που συμπεριφέρεται παράξενα, Να σημειώσω πως έχω 2.
Το ένα από την αρχή ήταν λίγο προβληματικό αλλά πλέον έχουν και τα δυο προβλήματα. Δεν ξέρω σε τι μπορεί να ευθύνεται. Το ένα ηχείο το χρησιμοποιούσα στην αρχή σαν ξυπνητήρι μεσώ σποτιφαι, αλλά μετά από ένα εξάμηνο περίπου χτυπούσε το ξυπνητήρι σε πολύ χαμηλή ένταση (ενώ το είχα ρυθμίσει σε υψηλότερη) και μετά έλεγε "Something went wrong" σε πολύ υψηλή ένταση (πολύ μεγαλύτερη από αυτήν που είχα ρυθμίσει). Μέτα από λίγο καιρό άρχισε να έχει θέματα με την τηλεόραση. Του έλεγα να παίξει νετφλιξ και μια το έκανε την άλλη έλεγε δεν είναι συμβατό με την τηλεόραση (ενώ για κάνα χρόνο δούλευε κανονικά με τη συγκεκριμένη τηλεόραση). Ενώ η τηλεόραση είναι ανοιχτή του λέω να την κλείσει και λέει πως δεν μπορεί. Έχω κάνει επαναφορά στις εργοστασιακές ρυθμίσεις αρκετές φόρες και στην τηλεόραση και στο ηχείο. Έχω επικοινωνήσει με την google αλλά δεν έχουν βοηθήσει.
Το δεύτερο ηχείο έχει λίγες εβδομάδες που λέει μόνο του "Something went wrong" μέσα στην ησυχία, χωρίς να ακούγονται θόρυβοι ή να του μιλήσω. Επίσης, ενώ έχω ρυθμίσει να ακούγεται αντρική φωνή, σε πολλές απαντήσεις που δίνει απαντάει με γυναικεία φωνή. Χθες το ξυπνητήρι δεν χτύπησε ποτέ σαν να μην είχα βάλει ξυπνητήρι (και άργησα πολύ στη δουλειά...) αλλά όταν το ρώτησα αν έχω ξυπνητήρια μου ανάφερε το ξυπνητήρι που έχω κάθε πρωί. Τα έκανα άλλη μια φορά επαναφορά στις εργοστασιακές ρυθμίσεις εχθές, αλλά σήμερα αυτό που χρησιμοποιώ ως ξυπνητήρι πάλι δεν χτύπησε ποτέ και δεν ανταποκρινόταν αμέσως όταν του μιλούσα. Εν τέλει απάντησε με αρκετή καθυστέρηση σε τρομερά υψηλή ένταση πάλι.
Καταλήγω στο ότι κάτι στο λογισμικό πάει λάθος και ευελπιστώ να φτιάξουν στο μέλλον, αλλά ομολογώ πως είναι κρίμα γιατί ήταν πολύ χρήσιμα για καθημερινή βοήθεια σε τέτοια πράγματα και πλέον είναι τόσο αναξιόπιστα που δεν τα χρησιμοποιώ...
Easy to connect love it
The only comparison I have is with the Google Assistant on my phone, but it is miles ahead. It understands commands much more easily and has incredible sensitivity to hear the voice even from other rooms (classic Google). Also, the volume it has as a speaker is impressive; however, the quality is not anything special, and after 70%, it deteriorates more.
Unfortunately, though, now with Gemini on mobile and generally AI assistants, it falls behind in basic questions, so I would recommend it purely for smart home functions
The 1 star is purely and simply due to the price; at around 20-something euros that I got it for 2 years ago, it was an UNBELIEVABLE machine. Now, for some reason, its price has more than tripled, and Google, in the meantime, seems to have abandoned the entire Nest line since at least 2021...
It's terrible, it only works in Spanish and English, and it connects very difficultly; it barely functions as a speaker
For smart home and if you decide to set it up in the Google ecosystem, it's perfect.
I have one in every room.
Besides the commands it has and each one works independently, you can group them all or whichever you want and they can play the same music simultaneously.
You change rooms and listen to music normally.
I got it to compare it with Amazon's Alexa.
Overall, it's the same.
In relation to Alexa:
+ It recognizes the commands you give it better.
+ It's smaller in size.
- It doesn't have Greek, but since we're talking about Google, the likelihood (+) of it being added is greater than Amazon's.
- I couldn't find a way to create a group (e.g., with Wi-Fi lamps) so that when I tell it to turn off all the front lamps or all the lamps in the kitchen, it does it without me having to give commands for each lamp one by one.
- It's very annoying to set up! To manage it, I had to go through a ton of websites.
- It has very complicated settings. You search... you search...

Very good. It is not particularly powerful, but up to 80% of the volume it delivers decent sound. For me, a major disadvantage (compared to a similar Sonos - which has clearly better sound) is that it does not have a battery. If it had a battery, I would give it 5*
It helps a lot if you have many smart devices. Easy to connect with the phone. Quite useful, and besides just asking it to turn on the light, it can play music for you, tell you the news. Unfortunately, it does not support Greek. It's a bit of an issue. :(
I have it here for a year, it is the best and worth its money
It's a shame that I can't give negative stars, I would heartily give it -5. Another terrible product from Google. Incredibly problematic to install, even more problematic to connect as a speaker. Constant disconnections despite being on a network of over 30mbit, tested with a repeater and mobile networks, no success. Simply awful.
It is worth its money for sure.
After first connection, it lost connection with my lamps and had to reset if completely, just 30min after first installation. Sometimes it doesn't understand my command of turning the light on and instead it puts music, even though I have perfect English with no accent. But one week since then and still all is good. Maybe a bug, but for the trouble, I give it 4 stars.
The review is made approximately one year after the purchase and use of this specific product. Up until 1 month ago, the performance was EXCELLENT in all aspects, both as a material and in terms of compatibility with compatible devices, responsiveness to voice commands, and incredible sound quality for such a small speaker, etc. HOWEVER, for the past month (today is 05/01/2024), problems with the device disconnecting from the internet have started to occur. An internet search shows that this is a problem that has also appeared for other buyers of this specific device (just search "google mini disconnects from internet"), they do not know the cause and for this reason, it has not yet been resolved by updates. So, for the past month, EVERY TWO TO THREE DAYS, THE DEVICE RESTARTS ON ITS OWN to its initial settings, meaning it resets, not just restarts, and I have to reinstall it for the software to recognize it from the beginning. So, for new buyers, do your research first... update 12/02/2024. Obviously, the problem reached some attentive ears out there, and most likely, the problem was solved through an update. For about 20 days now, I have not encountered any problems whatsoever. So, I am returning to my initial rating as an excellent product.
Amazing device! Powerful speakers and very fast connection for such a small device. It can even connect to your mobile phone via Bluetooth and you can cast the sound playing on your phone (transferring audio from your phone to the speaker).
Simply incredible!! Small, economical, very easy to use, with endless possibilities!! You constantly discover new functions!! And the sound?! Incredibly good for how small it is!!
Amazing speakers for such a cheap device, no one would expect it. Easy setup and it answers almost all the questions you ask it. It also supports Spotify and TuneIn, you ask it and it plays. But in order to play the song you want, you need to have Spotify Premium.
We connected it to a robot vacuum and a lamp. It does its job well and it can be controlled from a distance (only by my husband though). We play music and the volume is satisfactory.
I decided to try it because of YouTube Music, since Alexa doesn't work and I trusted that everything would work perfectly. It doesn't detect the LG TV, and adjusting the volume using the touch buttons is annoying. It's going to be a gift.
Sometimes it doesn't understand my English. I don't know if it's my pronunciation or not. Anyway, it is fast in response and has a powerful speaker.
I have been using it continuously for a year along with another one. Very good construction, relatively good sound quality considering its size, easy connectivity with compatible devices. Very reliable. Its disadvantages concern the Google Assistant application and are not related to the device itself.

As a device, it is exactly what I expected. It does what it promises. Its sound is satisfactory, maybe a little better than expected. Its response to commands is very fast and accurate.
BUT: There is a major problem with its connection/installation on iPhone devices. I will mention the problem and its (easy) solution to help those who, like me, encounter it (I am surprised that no one mentioned an installation problem on iPhones).
So, I downloaded the Google Home app from the Play Store and started and almost completed the setup. Only at the end, it showed me the indication Error KGSKErrorDomain-83902. Googling the above indication, I saw that it is a known software error from 2019 that Google has been trying (!) to address since then. Its solution (or rather bypass) is very simple.
We reset the Google Nest Mini (the process is: we turn off the microphone from its switch and press on the center of the Nest, on the lights, until we hear that it has been reset. For safety, we also uninstall the Google Home app from our phone).
On the iPhone we are trying to connect, we go to Settings/General/Language and change the language from Greek to English. We restart the phone and when it opens again (with English as the main language now), we download the app again and start the installation of the nest from the beginning. This is completed without any problem now, and when it finishes, we can change the language of the phone back to Greek.
By following the above steps, mine connected immediately and continues to work flawlessly.
I hope I helped those who encountered or will encounter in the future the (silly) problem.

The best thing I have bought recently.
Alarm clock through Spotify so you don't have your phone next to you all the time.
Integration with TuneIn for radio stations from all over the world (including Greek).
Very easy installation and management through the Google Home app.
Excellent sound, perfect for a small room.
Reminders, calendar, alarms, even random questions like sports.
The only negative thing maybe for some people is that it doesn't accept commands in Greek, but the commands work even with a bad pronunciation.
I will immediately buy a second one to synchronize the sound between rooms.
My choice was to enhance the speakers I have connected to the Google Nest Hub (2nd Gen).
The sound it produces is very nice, just like the Nest Hub, it has the same options but without a screen. You can adjust the bass and treble through the app. The sound is very good, clear, and bass-heavy. What I noticed is that when you turn up the volume quite high, it loses the bass and I have the feeling that the speaker's quality decreases.
Overall, the commands are executed quickly and without any issues.
It has the ability to be mounted on the wall as it has a screw hole.
One detail I noticed is that when it is on the wall and you want to rotate it a little, for example, the alignment with the LEDs may be lost.
Awesome and cheap. Immediate response. Listens immediately, answers immediately, handles devices perfectly. I initially got it alone and then started equipping the house gradually with smart devices that it controls flawlessly.

Because the voice command "Hey Google" is not supported on the iPhone, I got this and I am carefree. For 25 euros, it is a very good choice
It does its job. I mainly use it for controlling lighting and sound, and it responds well.
I think I would have preferred to get Alexa, of course, because Amazon's compatibility is greater in terms of variety of products. But that has to do with what devices you want to connect and control.
Excellent value for money, with a multitude of functions from Google, such as controlling smart home devices, listening to podcasts, or listening to music from Spotify (if you have a relevant account).
For its size and price, the sound is excellent, although not the same as what you would get from specialized audio companies like Marshall, Bose, or Sonos.
Additionally, you can pair two speakers in the same room to function as one and have stereo sound.
Lastly, it has Bluetooth functionality, so you can pair it with other devices and listen to music or whatever else you want in this way.
