Unacceptable for it to happen to so many people, including myself, that the product breaks down one year after the warranty expires, especially when you pay 270€. It's tragic that you can't find spare parts anywhere because they have specially made circuit boards. It's a shame for a company that makes millions from keratin presses and other expensive products to simply lose a customer's money for products with an expiration date, and it's not stated anywhere that in case of damage, it goes to waste! Clearly a company's fault, disgraceful!
I wonder how this is considered professional when, after using it twice a week for 2.5 years, it stopped working. It flashes a red light, makes a sound, and doesn't heat up. I contacted the company and they told me that there is no service available in Greece, and if anything happens within the two years, they will replace it with a new one, but after two years, you have to throw it away. Such a waste of money I spent.
Very good styler. Of course, in order to keep the hair and prevent it from breaking due to humidity, it requires the appropriate products, just like with all hair straighteners. Personally, I am very satisfied, it heats up quickly, and it is easy to style with. I use it daily and with proper use, my hair does not suffer the same damage as with other hair straighteners.
I bought the platinum for 250 euros and it broke within two years, and they told me that there is no service in Greece and I will have to throw it away! Stay away!
The truth is that I realized the exact same thing that I read in the comments. I was a hairdresser for years and worked in the best salons and abroad, where we only used ghd. In 2012, I bought my first ghd straightener, which lasted me until 2018. In 2018, it started having problems and simply didn't heat up enough to straighten the hair. It was the Gold model, not the Platinum.
Having had a good experience with this brand and since the "ghd GOLD" lasted me 5 years, I decided to buy ghd again, but this time the "platinum," which is supposedly the best. I bought the "platinum" in the summer of 2018, and it broke in March 2022, so it lasted me about 3.5 years. I realized that they are made in a way that they break once the warranty expires, and you can't do anything except buy a new one. It broke in the same way for me, meaning it would work for a maximum of 1 minute and then the button would flash red instead of white, making a strange sound (they told me this means the thermostat inside broke).
-I didn't buy it- but they gave me the steam pod, which I didn't want to buy from the beginning because compared to ghd, it gives better results. It gives me the impression that it protects the hair better and gives a more beautiful result. As long as I've been using the steam pod now, I must say that I don't have any particular complaints, it's just some details that make a difference, like the fact that it's somewhat bulky compared to the sleeker ghd, which is more convenient and comfortable to handle. Also, ghd does indeed give a more beautiful result to the hair and seems to protect it more.
I would like to buy the ghd platinum again, but I know that if I buy it, it will last only as long as the warranty period. Products are no longer manufactured to last; they are made with an expiration date, which is directly linked to the expiration of the warranty.
Now, of course, objectively (for the period it functions), it is the best straightener, I would say. It's just not worth the money because it has a very short expiration date. If it lasted longer, I wouldn't hesitate to buy it again or not.
I have had it for over 6 years, actually I HAD it for years because it broke this year. For the third time...
I bought it for about 220 euros, when it was released along with the steampod.
When I bought it, I was very excited because I had dyed and damaged hair from other straighteners or hairdryers. The hairdresser who recommended it to me is extremely well-known (and expensive) in the Northern Suburbs, and he told me that you don't need to intentionally adjust the temperature and that hair gets burned above 180 degrees. He also told me that if I pass the strand up to 2 times, it is safe for the hair. When he did a few strands, at a relatively slow pace and with the use of a comb, my hair came out perfect!
Indeed, when I did it myself, it came out perfect, it just took forever to finish with the curly and long hair. This may be understandable. With Saryna Key personal care at home and with this straightener, my hair became smooth and I used it almost every day.
The straightening did not last for more than 1 day, of course, it needed a little touch-up if I wanted it "completely straight".
It broke very quickly without having been used for a long time (the button turned red and made a different sound) and it took some time to get it repaired. It broke again in the same year. I was lucky that it was still under warranty. I would like to point out that I never left it plugged in when I wasn't using it, I always kept it in its case, and in general, I took care of the money I spent!
I used it quite a lot for about 2 years. The last 4 years, when I stopped straightening my hair, I hardly used it, not even once a week. I recently tried to use it again and it had the same problem as before. Of course, I was upset because a tool that costs 220 euros should not break so easily.
In conclusion, I don't know if they have improved the build quality by now, but it is certainly an expensive tool.
I have straight hair and I use it for curls. It makes very nice curls, the result is salon-level. Skill from the user is required, of course. Like all tools, it slightly damages the hair, so the use of a heat protectant product is necessary before and maybe a little hair oil afterwards. It heats up literally in seconds, the construction and design are amazing. The plates glide with great ease and do not pull the hair. I rarely use it for straightening, but I am also very satisfied, despite having straight hair.
Heats up in 20 seconds.
Very high-quality construction with a long rotating cord.
Easily straightens hair without damaging it and the result lasts.
Makes curls in hair very easily.
Hair never gets caught in the iron because it is very smooth.
Beautiful design and pleasing sounds when opening, heating up, and closing.
And something very important for me, very good customer service. I had the previous model ghd platinum (not +) and it suffered some damage, possibly my fault, and they immediately replaced it with the new model (they even asked me which color I prefer).
For me, it is one of the best purchases I have made, mainly for the health of my hair and the effectiveness of the product
What the world doesn't know when rushing to buy it, apart from its inefficiency, is that its duration is as long as the warranty period. Because if it suffers the slightest damage after the warranty expires, IT CANNOT BE REPAIRED. When I realized that there were no spare parts in the dealership, I was disappointed that I had actually bought a supposedly luxurious press, but ultimately with a short expiration date.
I reluctantly gave it one star because it was mandatory!
The worst money I have ever spent, or rather wasted.
I bought it after extensive research and expected a fantastic tool, but it is useless! I have it in the box and I use a cheap one that I had before. It doesn't straighten, it frizzes, it doesn't create waves, it's terrible.
Very good hair straightener with a stable (ideal) temperature of 185° Celsius so that the hair is not damaged during everyday use of the straightener. Its plates move to glide through the hair and make straightening easier.
