It should be noted that this does not work without a base unit. Everyone says how perfect it is, but no one mentions that if you don't have a base unit, it doesn't connect. Essentially, if you have the devolo kit that costs 200, you get this as an extra. If I'm wrong, please correct me.
Today I got it and connected it.
Compared to the NetGear PLW1000, I have better speed with the Devolo Magic 2 LAN triple.
My speed is 33-34 at the router and I achieve it with the Devolo Magic 2 without any losses.
With the NetGear PLW1000, I was getting 31-32.
It does exactly what it promises. Absolutely no loss in speed, it's as if you're connecting your devices directly to the router. It's a bit expensive, but it solves the problem once and for all.
I bought it because I had constant VDSL disconnections. This specific model has settings for VDSL Profile 35b 200Mbps. Since I installed it, I haven't had any more drops in the VDSL circuit.
Very good purchase and I would say it's worth its money compared to any other similar product on the market. Occasionally, it gets stuck and doesn't allow the connected devices to obtain an IP, so I have to unplug it from the socket and plug it back in (resetting the router and devices didn't work). I don't know if it's a common issue, but it's a minor inconvenience, I would say.
I bought a tp link equivalent, every 5 minutes I had disconnections at a distance of 5 meters, I returned it and they gave me a new tp link that did exactly the same as the first one... I went and bought this one here, I entered the house, plugged it in and didn't need to press anything and that's it! I never dealt with it again! It has a slight loss in speed but it is very stable! Don't even think about it! It's worth its money!
In a room where it is not possible to reach an Ethernet cable and with a significant decrease in speed using Wi-Fi, it does an amazing job with almost zero speed loss. It's like having a direct Ethernet cable to the router. It's expensive but it does what it says. I should note that the router is on a different floor. Simply perfect and without disconnections.
Expensive but it works.
I was wondering if they would work well between phases, the official answer is yes, it works in three-phase, both devolo and the store where I finally bought it told me that.
The truth is that I struggled to pair them, I fought for a day.
Eventually, they worked, in different phases, after 4-5 resets each.
Now, no problems for a week, I forgot I have them, I recommend them, although I struggled to set them up.
Edit: while it functions properly, the second device (receiver) refuses to load its management page. It doesn't practically bother me, but I wonder why.
Although something inside me told me it wouldn't work, in the end I was wrong. It works perfectly fine, the installation is very easy, and I got rid of the router from the room. It's worth every penny and more.
From the few PLCs with G.hn wave 2 implementation. Minimal added latency (~2-3ms) and IPv6 support. As for the product support, it had an issue with multicast packet forwarding (and UPnP) which Devolo fixed after written communication by releasing updated firmware. I am completely satisfied
Just received it.
Excellent build quality.
I haven't tried it yet, as I couldn't pair it with the other p/l adapters I have (NetGear & TP-Link).
That's why I'm writing these lines.
In its packaging (it's not a kit, it only contains one piece), it states that it needs to be paired with at least one more "devolo Magic adapter" to work, so I draw your attention to this.
I don't know if all this is obvious. I thought it wasn't necessary to have another devolo, but I believe it's a detail that should be highlighted in the product specifications on the pages of online stores.
So if you don't have another similar one (brand and series), don't buy it.
I just ordered a second one, and when I receive it, I will come back for evaluation.
===================================
I received the second one (with only one LAN output) and the connection was made.
However, what I feared happened. The devolo devices do not recognize my other powerlines (due to the new "G.hn" technology that supports speeds up to 2Gbps). After countless attempts and hours of testing, I had to connect a second powerline (from my "old" ones) to the router (in a different, independent socket) in order for the others to connect, which happened (to my surprise, as I am unfamiliar with these things and didn't know if it would work).
I only give it 3 stars solely because of this "incompatibility," as devolo is famous for their exceptional quality and I don't regret buying them. I just have to gradually start replacing all the others (6 in total - which implies a huge cost for me) because the router will have to be moved from its current location to another one that doesn't have a second socket nearby, in order to redo the above "trick."
Sorry if I bored you with the "story of my life," I hope at least my experience proves useful to one of you!
