It seems to work, it clearly has superior quality (volume and clarity throughout the entire audio field) compared to the RCA cables I had before, but it does not support 5.1 Dolby sound (5.1 passthrough) between my Samsung TV and Yamaha 5.1 home theater, even though both devices are supposed to support Dolby. I couldn't find any settings on the devices that would solve this. It's a shame because I bought it for the 5.1 amplifier.
After a lot of searching, it is likely that the incompatibility is due to the TV and not the cable (incompatibility of the surround 5.1 DD of Netflix with the version supported by the TV, the simple stereo sound works without any problem).
Conclusion: for transferring 5.1 sound from the TV with an optical cable, first make sure that the TV supports 5.1 passthrough and that the devices you want to connect are compatible if you want to fully utilize the devices and cable.
The build quality is good, the end with the angled plug rotates 360 degrees for better fit. It comes with protective plastic covers on the ends.
