I chose this product because I was looking for a sturdy, durable, high-quality, very beautiful, and as bulky as possible watch. And, in the end, I succeeded.
It has a battery mechanism. It has both digital and analog functions, with hands. There is no second hand, only hour and minute hands.
You should know that its mechanism is based on digital technology. As one would expect from a modern watch.
That is, you first set the time digitally. And then, the hands move automatically. And thus, the analog time is created.
Its size is 55 millimeters. The exact dimensions are: 55X51.2X16.9 millimeters. Its weight is 70 grams. Low weight for its increased volume. It is waterproof. And you can easily get it wet.
You can even go diving with it, up to 200 meters underwater. It has a stopwatch. It measures elapsed time, intermediate time, and finishing time, with an accuracy of 1/1000 of a second. This model has two independent stopwatches and can measure time up to 100 hours.
It also has a countdown timer that reminds you of important events by emitting an audible signal at a predetermined time.
Then, it counts down automatically. It can be programmed with minute accuracy, for up to 24 hours.
It has 4 different alarms and a snooze function. That is, if the alarm goes off and you don't hear it, it repeats the alarm.
It has a SIG function. In other words, every hour that passes, it can make 2 discreet beeps.
What none of my colleagues, critics, mentioned or noticed is that this product has two teeth where the strap attaches. You will see it in my photos.
This makes the watch more stable on your wrist. It is something I have never seen before in a watch. And I really liked it, I must admit.
The strap of the GA-100-1A2ER is made of good quality rubber. It is quite soft. Based on my experience, hard rubber straps break easily in a short period of time.
The GA-100-1A2ER is an extremely durable watch! It is reinforced with high-quality Japanese steel and hard plastic parts. Additionally, it is shock-resistant.
Its accuracy is great. On the order of +- 15 seconds per month! It has world time.
You can switch between 12-hour and 24-hour time display. It has daylight saving time.
It is available in 3 different models. One black - white. One black - blue (the model I chose). And black - red.
I chose the black - blue one. Because blue is my favorite color. And I also found it more discreet as a color.
This product bears the "heavy" name of quality, from the excellent, long-established Japanese company, CASIO.
The GA-100-1A2ER is resistant to magnetic fields.
It has an automatic backlight function when you turn your wrist towards your face to see the time. But there is also a button that illuminates it for exactly 2 seconds.
I was very impressed by the luxurious packaging of the GA-100-1A2ER. As you can see in my photos. It is entirely made of steel. But it also has a second cardboard box on the outside. Tremendous attention to detail from Casio.
The said product came to me with 2 separate instruction manuals. One in the following languages: English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Arabic. And in 2 Asian languages with ideograms. Possibly Chinese and Japanese.
The second brochure, which is also much larger in number of pages, is in Greek.
However, the GA-100-1A2ER is not a perfect product. Let's see all the negatives that I have identified.
1. The light, which is placed above the indicators, makes it almost useless. At night, in the dark, if you press the special button of the light, you will only see the analog hands. No other indication.
In my previous watch, the also Japanese Q&Q M132J001 (my review is available on skroutz.gr), the light was placed behind the dial. So, you could see everything clearly, even in complete darkness.
2. The hands could be luminous. Or even better, they could have optical fiber. Like I have seen in my completely legal Spanish air rifle, Gamo Shadow 1000.
3. The digital time is not very clear. However, if you turn your wrist up and down, you will see it clearly. Regardless, with enough natural or artificial lighting, everything looks fine. So, I don't have a problem.
4. The GA-100-1A2ER got reset. Because one morning, half asleep, I messed with it. Without knowing exactly what I was doing, or even remembering what I did that morning.
In the end, I had to take it to the store for repair. With a charge of 10 euros.
In general, adjust it based on the instructions. Or based on YouTube videos. And don't tamper with it too much.
In conclusion, the Casio G-Shock GA-100-1A2ER digital and analog watch is undoubtedly a very good product. It has a reasonable price for the well-known brand and its overall quality. It is reliable, strong, durable, bulky, and of course, beautiful. True Japanese excellence. Enjoy it!
