Description

The current volume contains texts concerning justice, specifically the judicial system as a coherent set of legislated institutions through which one of the three functions of the state is exercised: the judiciary. It also includes texts concerning the practitioners of justice: judges, prosecutors, and lawyers, with their practices, behaviors, and mentalities through which justice is administered and the judicial system operates.

The texts in the volume are exceptional. They are exceptions to the rule as they deviate from the usual way in which justice and its practitioners become the subject of public discussion and criticism. In them, a qualitative way of thinking is articulated, which in Greece was and still is rare. A way of thinking that does not overlook reality, does not shy away from its bitter truths, and does not turn a blind eye to its problems. A way of thinking that examines things with acumen and knowledge because it is not impoverished. That seeks only what it openly pursues because it is not hypocritical. That does not aim to distract its recipients because it is sincere. That seeks causes and solutions, wherever and however it can, because it is not one-sided. That does not serve hidden private or covertly conspiratorial purposes because it is not pretentious. Finally, a way of thinking that is not biased because it is sober; it is not superficial because it is mature; and it is not accusatory because it is contemplative.
