I have bought this machine 2 times; the first time it was indeed silent and it cuts very well.
However, the second time (when I got it from youbuy) it made a lot of noise and shook a lot; however, it cuts just as well, obviously defective, due to hygiene product I couldn't return it.
If I hadn't gotten the first one, I would say that this is how they all are, but since I got tired of the noise, I will buy another one from somewhere else; anyway, it costs about 20 euros
For the past 10 years I have been cutting my own hair. I use it on a monthly basis and I usually use three guards. 13 for the sides, 25 for the top, and 19 for blending.
Until today I had a rechargeable machine which I can say had given me a hard time.
The purchase of the Wahl was a great upgrade for me and I truly believe it is a very good buy.
Very fast and clean haircut. No snagging at any point of the haircut. I didn't need to shake or stop cutting to clean the machine until my job was done.
I will agree with others that it vibrates quite a bit, but I can't find any negative in that and I don't think it's a reason to deter you from buying.
With good oiling and maintenance, I don't think there will be any problem.
The machine has two screws under the plate. Maybe from excessive use they loosen and create additional vibrations. Nothing that a loctite and a good screwing can't fix (I will come back to the subject in the future).
Also, the options for guards are much more than the other options out there. In my research before buying, most machines have 2-4 guards and not more. This one covers me perfectly.
Overall, for the money it costs, I don't think it's worth so much complaining. If you were paying 100€ I understand having expectations. Now with 20€ you shouldn't even bother to write a review.
Very good for its price, I have it for many years.
You can replace the blades with better quality ones or file the old ones.
It makes noise and squeaks a lot only when a screw on the side is too tight or too loose. If you have the kit's butterfly or a small screwdriver, do yourself a favor and try it out, those who complain that it sounds like a compressor.
I have had the machine for about 6 years.
Overall, I am satisfied, the only negatives are that despite its weight, which gives a sense of sturdy construction, it shakes like my uncle's tractor in the village and sounds like a chainsaw when pruning the olive trees, hence the 3 stars.
Nevertheless, it has never clogged on me. After each use, I cleaned it with a brush and occasionally added a little oil.
For the money, it is good. I will replace it now because after so many years of use, the blade has started to rust
Good quality for its price, with a powerful motor. The heads are okay, it doesn't get clogged, cuts well and quickly. The only drawback is that it has vibrations and noise like Leatherface's chainsaw in Texas Chainsaw Massacre. I got used to it. If you don't have thick hands, don't get it.
The machine is value for money, it easily does its job. It makes a lot of noise and vibrates, but this does not affect its use by amateurs. The only thing that ultimately bothers me is the cable, since having a rechargeable battery would be a great convenience.
The hair clipper does not cut very well because you have to pass several times over each point to cut all the hairs to the same length.
After almost 2 years of use, as soon as the machine heats up, it loses its power and does not cut at all.
The worst thing I have ever bought... I made the mistake and believed the good reviews, but it has nothing to do with reality. After a few hours of use, it made a loud noise and the entire machine was shaking. Money wasted... When I contacted the store where I bought it, they told me that I hadn't put the right amount of oil. Nonsense! It happened again the next day, while still under warranty, and they told me that it couldn't be replaced. We had to send it to the service center and they would determine if it needed replacement, a process that would take 20 days... In the end, I bought another machine and didn't bother with it again.
We are talking about a 20 euro machine. It is an excellent choice for this money. It is not professional, but for trimming and maintenance cutting, it is top-notch
I made the mistake and believed the good reviews. My big mistake, wasted money. I bought it to trim my son's hair. It vibrates and makes noise to the point that my little one got scared. The combs don't fit well, one of them broke on the first use when I tried to attach it to the machine and it didn't fit. The worst machine I have ever bought. Stay away!!!
I bought the machine because of good reviews. With the first use, I realized that it is actually a mediocre machine. The instructions it has are very poor and you proceed with your own experience. The construction is sturdy, which shows that it seems valuable. Although it has many combs for different lengths, in reality they are not very useful, as they have a lot of space between their teeth, so they don't cut very precisely. Only the 3mm comb is somewhat worth it, but it is actually for very close shaving and it doesn't suit me. If there was a corresponding comb for 6mm and 9mm, a feature that I had in my old machine which lasted for 15 years, my evaluation would increase, as these are my personal choices. The vibration is indeed noticeable, but it didn't bother me. Finally, it also got stuck twice, which disappointed me during the first use and made me question its lifespan. It's better to spend a little more.
A-ter-ri-ble
One of the worst products I have ever bought.
Positives:
Very sturdy construction, incredible blades that truly shave even the toughest hair.
Negatives:
From the very first use, sometimes when I opened it, it made a very loud noise as if something inside had broken.
Excessive vibration to the point where your hand hurts after a quarter of use.
The heads are not of good quality construction either.
After 1 year of rare use (1-2 haircuts per month), the switch broke.
It is an excellent machine for its price. We use it amateurishly for men's haircuts at home, but it is equally good for beards with the only difference being that because it is large, it is not easy for the details on the beard. However, it never gets clogged, we have had it for about a year and it has definitely done 15 haircuts, it is excellent. With a little practice using the various attachments, everything is done. It also has a special oil for lubrication. Overall, we are very satisfied with this purchase. Definitely value for money!
While it is good for its price, I have identified 2 weaknesses. First, the screw loosens with use and does not engage to allow the cutting plate to move, requiring tightening. Also, after a short period of time, even though I oil it regularly, it vibrates excessively. Despite these issues, it cuts properly, hence the 4 stars
I use it for trimming, I blow it and put oil on it, it works perfectly, but you get startled when it starts because it is abrupt and sounds loud, but then everything is fine.
I have had 3 or 4 haircuts and it doesn't chew the hair, it cuts well and doesn't get clogged. The only negative thing I found is that I would like it to have a larger selection of attachment sizes (in millimeters) and its weight. I would definitely buy it again and I recommend it for amateur use. For professional use, it should be used daily for a while.
Excellent product for its price, I use it once a week for shaving without using any attachments. I have had it for a while now and there is now a slight decrease in blade power, but it doesn't mean it can't be used. Yes, it is heavy because we are talking about a quality and sturdy construction. For facial shaving, obviously you should choose something else. For trimming with the "fine" setting, perhaps it is the best value
The negatives are that it has a lot of vibration, after two years despite all the oiling I do, it makes a crazy noise, the quality of the clippers is mediocre. But for the money, it's fine.
VFM! A simple machine with a small head. I use it very often because of the very short cut. It does the job fine but it's a bit noisy. It sticks a little to the skin of the head and after just a few uses, the head has darkened as if it has oxidized. It needs frequent oiling according to the manual. Oil is included. Just don't overdo it.
I bought the machine at the beginning of the quarantine (March 2020) mainly for cutting but also for trimming. Seeing many barbers using Wahl machines, I decided to trust the professionals for my first machine (being a teenager). Its motor is quite powerful and cuts well. However, there is an issue with trimming. If someone has a lot of mustache and trims it at a high setting, then it's fine. It's like cutting hair. But if you trim the beard without any guard, then there is a problem. Its blades are very aggressive and the skin gets irritated and reddens immediately, especially if it is sensitive and easily gets irritated like mine. Moreover, if you have acne/scars on your face, these areas get incredibly irritated. Plus, the machine is quite heavy, so not only does it tire your hand after about 5 minutes, but it also requires careful movements to avoid injuries (e.g. trimming without applying any pressure, only with the weight of the machine). The same applies to the body, as it pulls hairs or the edges get caught in the skin (this hurts a lot). In short, it is fine for cutting and light trimming, but it is not suitable for deeper tasks. However, it has definitely earned its money and more. Besides, for its price, it is one of the best options. The only thing I would like is a guard at 1 or 2 for fading, because it goes straight from 0 to 3.
I deduct one star because it makes a lot of noise and from the vibration it produces when you hold it, it numbs your hand and it is quite heavy in construction. But it does its job perfectly
Just shaved and despite the numbness in my hand, I am struggling to type on the keyboard...
The machine is very powerful but also very heavy and with a lot of vibrations.
If you experience the above numbness after shaving, it is the best choice!
As a hairdresser, I have to say that it is excellent for its price. It doesn't get clogged. It cuts with just one pass and the vibrations with its weight are comfortable in the hand. One downside is the heads it has. They are very fake and I'm afraid they will break soon. It's worth getting it though
Amazing machine, I didn't expect such performance. I've had it for almost a year and I shave every 15-20 days, plus the trims. It has no problem working continuously, and it cleans easily.
Before I bought this specific machine, I read the comments and believed to buy it, guys don't make the mistake and buy it, the machine on the second day I used it suddenly changed its noise and sounded like a tractor, but it didn't work well, something had happened, I unscrewed it to see what was wrong and then I found my trouble, you get what you pay for, prefer something better...
