Keeping moving subjects in continuous, steady focus is absolutely vital for capturing every important moment, from sports to everyday life. Sony's advanced AI subject-tracking algorithms process large volumes of data at high speed and in real time!

Eye AF for humans and animals!

Real-time Eye Autofocus continuously tracks the eye in moving portraits. Priority can be given to the left or right eye. It works even with partially hidden faces, looking down, or backlit. Sony's pioneering eye-tracking algorithms have been adapted for both humans and animals, allowing you to capture exceptionally sharp portraits of your pets and stunning wildlife shots.

Reliable Autofocus!

The wide autofocus coverage is based on 425 phase detection points and 425 contrast detection points, for significantly increased tracking accuracy. The rapid performance from the latest generation image processing system achieves autofocus speed of 0.02 seconds, while advanced algorithms predict the subject's next movement.

Superior image resolution, realistic textures!

The APS-C sensor uses copper for enhanced conductivity and circuit processing capability, improving light-gathering performance. Combined with the advanced image processing system, image resolution is enhanced and textures are more realistic.

Clearer images in low light!

Improved noise suppression offers clearer images in low-light and high-sensitivity settings. The native ISO sensitivity has been increased to a maximum ISO 32000, with a maximum expanded ISO sensitivity up to ISO 51200 for still images. Effective noise reduction in the mid-to-high sensitivity range.

Fast Hybrid Autofocus for Movies!

The fast hybrid AF offers high speed, accuracy, and tracking performance to meet the stringent AF requirements in 4K movies. The most effective phase detection at the focal plane provides more stable AF, while contrast detection AF improves overall accuracy. Steady and smooth focus even when something passes in front of the subject.

Selfie with easy framing!

Frame yourself easily for selfies and vlogs, thanks to the camera's LCD screen, which can tilt 180° upwards and 74° downwards, allowing for better subject placement in the frame when shooting from low or high angles!

Touch Focus!

Select "Touch Tracking" in the menu and set your subject by touching the screen. Automatic tracking will start whether you are taking photos or movies. "Touch Focus" is just as simple. Just touch the appropriate point on the screen to set the focus.

    Having switched from the a6000 and a6300, I would say that the a6100 is a superior camera in terms of photo, video, ISO, and much superior in focusing speed. With the Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 or Tamron 17-70mm 2.8, it is an excellent choice for a travel camera and more. I am quite satisfied with the camera; the only thing I would like is a larger viewfinder.

    Positives:
    - Focusing speed
    - Small and sturdy body
    - Good photo quality up to 3200 ISO
    - Excellent 4K video, 1080 at 120fps
    - Wide range of lenses

    Negatives:
    - No stabilization in the body
    - Not water-resistant
    - Low-resolution viewfinder and a bit small in size (compared to a6600)
    - Lack of picture profiles (S-Log2, S-Log3, HLG) in video for more editing.
    - Relatively short battery life, especially when using 4K video, it drains quite quickly (at least two more are needed)

    Having changed 7 cameras including full frame, the moment has come when I settled. In every aspect, the a6100 is flawless. I compare it to the holy trinity of Sigma and the more expensive crop and full frame models seem non-competitive to me.

    If you exclude the picture profiles, it has nothing to envy from much more expensive cameras + the fact that it can shoot continuously for 30 minutes and in one file!! You should buy a regular camcorder.

    Certainly better than the 6000, but for this money, 700 euros plus a good lens for 400 euros, a total of 1100, you can definitely find something better. In my opinion, the price should be at most 550 euros. But Sony still sells it for 569, the 6000 which should have been discontinued or lowered to 400 euros. But it seems that the fever for mirrorless cameras is still going strong
