The instant water heater is a type of water heater that heats water in real-time. It only heats the water that passes through it at that moment. There is no hot water storage tank. This has many advantages, such as energy savings, since only the water being used is heated, as well as longer lifespan, since there is no water tank and no accumulation of salts on the resistance and other components.

It operates with electricity and is single-phase.

The instant water heater has a cold water inlet pipe, which passes through the resistance, heats up, and comes out in the hot water outlet pipe. A necessary condition for the instant water heater to initially operate is that the pressure of the cold water inlet is not too low.

The temperature of the water is regulated by a thermostat, so as not to exceed a maximum value. The temperatures reached by the hot water are pre-set so that someone can use the hot water directly, without the need for mixing with cold water.

The maximum temperature that can be reached for hot water production is 50 °C, while the maximum flow rate of the water reaches up to 2 liters per minute. Indicatively, 38-42 °C degrees are the standard for shower use.
