Although this fast F1.8 lens weighs only 280 g (9.9 oz.) and measures just 65.6 mm x 73 mm, it offers unparalleled image quality that makes it a wonderful choice for any use, whether photography or filmmaking. It is a full-frame lens, but it also fits APS-C bodies offering a focal length equivalent to 52.5 mm, ideal for portraits and snapshots.
High resolution across the entire image range
An aspherical element is strategically integrated into the advanced design of this lens to prevent optical distortion and achieve high resolution up to the edges of the image. Smooth background defocusing (bokeh) is also available when needed, supported by a 9-blade circular aperture mechanism, which contributes to realistic background defocusing (bokeh).
Reliable autofocus tracking in any situation
Focusing is crucial for the shallow depth of field at the large F1.8 aperture. The silent, fast response and high precision of the linear mechanism of this lens's autofocus drive system ensure accurate focusing not only for still images but also for movies where wobbling is used for detailed, continuous focus control.
Get Closer for Stunning Close-Ups
The minimum focusing distance of 0.22 m (0.73 ft.) and the maximum magnification of 0.24x make this lens useful for close-up shots, as well as for general photography and filmmaking. High optical performance is maintained at close range, providing the quality needed to create stunning images of tabletop subjects, flowers, and more.
Customizable Focus Hold Button
A conveniently positioned focus hold button not only offers easy handling of focus retention, but you can also assign a multitude of other functions to it from a menu accessible from the camera body. Functions that can be assigned to the focus hold button include displaying grid lines to assist with composition, adjusting white balance, and other functions that support efficient and flexible photography.
Easy Switching Between Manual/Auto Focus
The focus mode switch that allows instant switching between automatic and manual focus mode can provide a significant advantage when shooting subjects or in shooting conditions that require detailed, manual focus adjustment.
Natural, Linear Manual Focus Response
Linear response manual focus ensures that the focus ring responds immediately and linearly to fine adjustments during manual focusing. The rotation of the focus ring translates directly into the corresponding focus change, so control is immediate and precise.
Designed for dust and moisture resistance
The dust and moisture-resistant design provides the reliability needed for outdoor use in challenging conditions.

Together with the 85mm f1.8, these are two little lenses you must always have with you, whether you are doing video or photography...
VFM with closed eyes!!
Perhaps the most basic and must-have lens for a professional photographer. It is an ideal implementation by Sony. At 35mm, this lens has no rival. Excellent color performance, sharp from wide apertures, and very fast.
For someone who wants to enter the world of primes, I would say that "life begins at 35mm". It is the focal length approximately of our eyes and is ideal for reportage. It will definitely help the eye and perception of things happening through your viewfinder.
What can one say about this wonderful little lens!; Almost everything is as it should be, af is amazing especially in subject tracking, color reproduction is very good, very sharp, focuses very close almost "macro", super small, super lightweight, very good build quality, silent, the price is simply "ridiculous", I bought it 2 years ago for 400€ brand new with a discount because I bought 4 lenses together and I feel like I (stole from the church). It truly is a lens that every videographer and photographer should have in their collection from every aspect. One of my favorite prime lenses. The image quality is exactly the same and overall it's the same lens in a longer focal length as the 85mm 1.8, which is also worth every euro. Good shots and have a great time!!
A wonderful and pleasant lens to always have with you. Nice color reproduction, sharp autofocus, and reliable. The construction is sturdy and well-made. The 50mm 1.8 (very good for its price) seems inferior in terms of construction compared to this one. It is also quiet. It is worth its money.
Tested in many scenarios for both video and photography on a7iii, a7c, vex vg30, a6300, and ZV 10.
Similar results, different color science (camcorder, mirrorless gen 2, 3, 4) as the lens aesthetic (render) which does not get mixed up with any other lens from another brand or even the same one. (Similar results were only seen on the Sony 85mm f1.8 FE and Sony G 20mm f1.8 with very slight color differences)
Sharp from f1.8, color deviations minimal in crop (aps c) bodies only (various scenarios and settings), good flare control, with ND and CPL filters a small difference in color depiction, but a huge difference in photo and video quality especially in landscapes, reflections, water, etc.
Close focus from about 20 centimeters! Instantaneous without confusion either in af s, afc, zone, etc., responsive speed af, etc. (according to your preference and shooting environment)
Subject tracking and response that probably predisposes you to flagship mirrorless types like a9, a1, siii, a7r series (where with focus hold it is accurate about 90% in low to medium light)
On gimbal, zhiyun weebill, ronin sc with any full-frame Sony it frees your hands and you quickly create all the shoots with confidence in af in 95% of scenarios. (linear focus system)
A lightweight and compact package with top-notch user experience with the positive af/mf switch and the button that you can customize to any function you desire.
The background dial is very good with good resistance but soft.
Its depiction is simply excellent.
Breathing focus minimal in pull focus or in switching between close/far subject with af.
Anyone offering a 35mm at this price now and with the cashback I consider inferior.
Best seller aps c Sony
Only the Tamron 35 focuses very close but the focus mechanism is slow and noisy (stepper) at half the price and f2.8. Color rendering strangely (I have a review on this specific one on Skroutz)
Very fast auto focus, very lightweight and convenient lens. As image quality, it is very good but not exceptional. Perfect combination with the a7c for street photography. In my opinion, it is worth its money, but if you don't mind the weight, there are other 35mm lenses with a similar price in the system that deserve your attention.
Package with A7iii mainly for video use but also applicable for photography, the following apply: since I plugged it in, it hasn't come off. It definitely worth its money at 535, but not at the 800 that I see it reaching. Depending, of course, on the intended use of each lens, I believe that 35mm in general is an ideal field for someone to enter the world of prime lenses, neither too wide with distortions, etc., nor relatively closed to restrict you like, for example, the 55mm +. I would like it to have more protection from moisture, etc., but okay, I don't consider it a reason not to buy. Nice bokeh and sharp image even at f1.8 (of course, there are better ones but they are also much more expensive). In comparison, for example, with the new G 1.4, I would still prefer it from the perspective that with half the price, you get similar results in terms of quality, while in some areas such as weight and minimum focal distance, it even surpasses the much more expensive G master 1.4. Conclusion, versatile lens, value for money, compact design and weight, silent and fast autofocus (essential for video) that covers the owner from street photography, astro, and even mystery coverage (in some parts at least where a zoom is not necessary).
