Perhaps the best B450 in its category, I paired it with a 3700x and a 5600xt which I later replaced with a 6750XT, and with 3200mhz 16GB RAM which I later upgraded to 3600mhz 32GB. I never had any compatibility issues, everything synced up smoothly. I plan to upgrade soon to a 5800x3d.
Reliable, good, but I wanted an extra port and not old VGA connection on top.. perfect temperature, simple screwing, great for playing Call of Duty, imagine nothing, everything is great
It has been running with this setup since 1/2020 without any issues. I did not encounter any problems with the bios (only enabled xmp), it seems quality in terms of construction.
Purchased 6 months ago. The motherboard has proven reliable and works great with a Ryzen 5 3600x. Although the B450 chipset is considered "old" at this time, for anyone looking to save some money, the motherboard is excellent
It has been about 6 months since I completed the build with this motherboard. The rest of the specifications are:
AMD Ryzen 5 3600 (Processor)
AMD RX 5700 (Graphics card)
16GB 3200Mhz RAM
1TB M.2 NVME (Storage)
In short, it has proven to be reliable and fully sufficient in terms of features and capabilities. It has everything one needs in a motherboard of this category. Some may desire PCIE Gen 4 support or USB Type C on the case, but considering that it is currently priced below 90€, these cannot be expected. Note that I purchased it for 120€.
Since it is a motherboard, it does not directly affect performance, so if you do not want to spend a fortune on one, especially now with increased prices on other components, this is still the ideal choice for running Ryzen processors up to the third generation, in the budget category. The BIOS is user-friendly, and I have never encountered any performance limitations due to overheating of the motherboard. Lastly, it has many small nice features, such as the LEDs at the back that add an aesthetic upgrade and offer a basic level of customization.
I recommend it for use like mine (a little bit of everything) if you have similar category parts. It just works
Purchased at the end of 2019 and paired with a Ryzen 7 3700x.
In terms of performance and temperatures, it is excellent and I had no problem overclocking RAM.
The build quality is exceptional for its price and it has all the necessary ports and features, and for the money, I have no complaints.
Also, MSI's BIOS is one of the best on the market.
For its price, it is still an excellent choice for those who do not need the additional features found in B550 motherboards.
The best motherboard of its chipset. Beautiful, very stable and with high build quality, it does not have issues with XMP profiles like other motherboards that cause blue screens, and it has nice utilities to "play" with synchronization and RGB. It has been paired with a Ryzen 5 3600 and 16gb HyperX 3200mhz along with a GTX 1060 6gb and even though the graphics card holds me back, all the latest AAA titles (Shadow of the Tomb Raider, COD Warzone + CW, etc.) run at ultra settings from 50-60 fps in 1080p, with the processor working at ~30% and temperatures close to 60 degrees on the motherboard and processor. The only drawback I can find is that it has only one slot for nvme, but I don't know if this is a limitation of the specific chipset. Overall, very satisfied with the motherboard.
It fit perfectly in the case without any problem. I installed an AMD Ryzen 5 on top, which works without any issues, and you can adjust the RGB lighting it has through the BIOS and do whatever you want literally. Plenty of USB and RGB lighting ports. Quite satisfactory for the money
With a Ryzen 5 3600x, this motherboard matched perfectly. Easy to connect and quite easy to install, except for one cable on the top left that I can't remember what it is, but it threw me off.
At first I had a problematic experience. Nevertheless, I give it 5 stars because it deserves it, the second one that came from the store was fine and so far I am completely satisfied. Buy it without hesitation, it's good! As for its features, I won't say much, MSI's website has it all, but what it has has more than satisfied me.
I won't say much, the motherboard is a BEAST, MONSTER, I have no words I managed to overclock to AMD RYZEN 5 4.85Ghz and RAM 4.0Ghz !!!! Attention only because it requires experience in overclocking.
After a year, it started acting up with marks that look like oil has spilled on it and it burned 2 RAM channels. Other than that, it is a nice motherboard with plenty of capabilities, but the problem is that it doesn't handle heavy usage well, especially when the PC is running constantly.
Purchased solely for gaming use, paired with a Ryzen 5 3600, Gigabyte RTX 2060, Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO 16GB, Samsung SSD Nvme m.2 970 Evo Plus 500GB, and an NZXT Kraken M22.
1) No BIOS update was needed for this specific processor.
2) The memory immediately synced to 3200Mhz by enabling the XMP profile in the BIOS, which is quite easy to use and not at all complicated.
3) The motherboard stays consistently at 25 degrees Celsius when idle, and does not exceed 35 degrees under full load.
4) It has 2 USB 2.0 ports, 4 USB 3.2 ports, and 2 slots for PCI Express x16 3.0.
5) Very easy to use through the MSI Dragon Center software, allowing you to adjust the RGB lighting it offers.
6) Great value for money and quality construction, as always from MSI.
With this motherboard and the 3600, I had made a breakthrough in the RAM market by choosing an affordable b-die 4400mhz 19cas with the intention of doing a good RAM overclock. I don't know if it was the RAM or the motherboard's fault, but I didn't end up with any result that impressed me, I just did my job.
Apart from that, I didn't have any other issues. Although it didn't yield particularly good results for me, it still remains a good option for anyone who wants to experiment due to its Bios Flashback feature.
When I bought it, it was perhaps the best choice in the market for this price range, but if I needed a similar motherboard now, I would go for a b550 where they are not much more expensive.
Very easy to install, use and connect with a very user-friendly BIOS.
I am a mid-range video editing user and for this type of workload I believe it is value for money.
It's not the best, but I don't need the best for my job.
Very good motherboard. At first, I had some problems due to Windows, but the motherboard didn't give me much trouble, so it was easier for me to fix it. I never had any issues and when I occasionally removed some parts for cleaning, it was very easy to put them back in place. It is reliable and I believe it is worth its money. The only downside for me is the relatively poor RGB, but in terms of performance, it is perfect. I have it with Ryzen 5 2600 and Gigabyte 1660
I am the owner of the motherboard for about 3 weeks. After doing a lot of research and because I really enjoy the process of custom building a PC, I installed it in the NZXT H510 tower.
I have created the following system:
- Tower: NZXT H510
- Motherboard: MSI B450 TOMAHAWK MAX
- Graphics card: Radeon rx5600xt
- Memory: 2 x Corsair Vengeance DDR4 3200 Mhz 8gb each
- Chip: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 with cooling from Arctic Freezer 34 esports duo
I simply have to say that all the aforementioned components work perfectly with the motherboard. Before purchasing, do some market research on compatibility (e.g. maximum memory MHz limit it can handle, etc.), depending on the chipset you want to buy and the tower. In my system, however, AMD Ryzen and MSI work perfectly together and so far I haven't encountered any issues with their performance. Overall, the above system as a hardware package performs very well on the internet and I can say, based on my experience so far.
Very good and high-quality construction from MSI, as usual.
It has a very easy-to-use menu that is accessible by pressing delete during system startup. There are many options and capabilities, even for those who seek overclocking.
With the press of a button, it is also possible to synchronize the RAM memory card to reach the maximum advertised MHz (Enable A-XMP profile from the BIOS). If you don't do this, your RAM won't synchronize properly according to their capabilities, and the placement of the RAM in the slots also plays an important role. In this specific motherboard, we place the RAM first in slots 2 and 4 (it is written on the motherboard) and then activate the A-XMP profile for synchronization, which happens immediately and easily. (In my case, I did the above to synchronize the RAM at 3200 MHz)
Do not skimp on the motherboard, thinking that it is not an important part of a PC. It is an absolutely essential hardware component. With the current data, I consider this specific motherboard to have a relevant future proof and that it will be able to meet the needs of any future upgrades.
Very good and future proof for 100€. Especially the button it has at the back to update the bios without even having the CPU on is very good. It doesn't have digital audio output and that's why I gave it 4 stars.
By far the best B450 in its category, its sales speak for themselves. I have owned it for about 10 months now and have combined it with:
- Ryzen 5 3600 CPU
- Corsair Hydro Series H115i RGB Platinum AIO
- MSI GeForce RTX 2060 Super 8GB Gaming X GPU
- Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 16GB DDR4-3600MHz CL 18 CMW16GX4M2Z3600C18 RAM
- Corsair Force MP510 480GB M.2 NVMe SSD (Windows and programs)
- Samsung 870 Evo 1TB SATA SSD (Games)
- Seagate Barracuda 2TB SATA HDD (File storage)
- Corsair RM850x (2018) 850W Full Modular 80 Plus Gold PSU
- Phanteks P300A Case
The motherboard is simply a bulldozer, it can handle anything you throw at it effortlessly, reliable, stable in its operation, and everything works like a charm. Easy bios menu for the average user, with options for OC and custom fan curve, quality coolers on VRM and chipset for low temperatures, 4 system fan headers for fan connection (4pin), as well as an RGB header (non-addressable) and several USB ports to connect the devices you want plus a type-c port. Among its great features are the very good VRM for overclocking enthusiasts and the bios flashback button. Just a note, if a disk is placed in the M.2 slot, SATA ports 5 and 6 are disabled, so be careful with the connection. The motherboard will now also support the Ryzen Zen3 processor series (with a relevant bios update), making it even more value for money. The lack of PCIe 4.0 may disappoint some interested parties, but for now, the differences with PCIe 3.0 in gaming at least are almost negligible. The only thing I would like is a second M.2 slot, but even with a simple SATA 3 SSD, you won't see crazy differences in game loading. Anyway, it's a motherboard that is worth its money and more!
Update 20/02/2023:
CPU upgrade to Ryzen 7 5700X
GPU upgrade to AORUS RX 6750XT 12GB Elite
RAM upgrade to Corsair Vengeance RGB RT 32GB DDR4-3600MHz CL 16 CMN32GX4M2Z3600C16
Everything works perfectly, the motherboard has not presented any problems.
Very good motherboard for those who want a good but cheap motherboard, however it is worth going for a B550 for future proofing and better speeds (pci 3.0 vs pci 4.0). However, the money I spent is worth it and more, quality construction, very good bios, moderate connectivity (putting a new cpu cooler if you already have the ryzen stock one is a big hassle but with patience it can be done) and sufficient number of usb ports although it could have 2 more for those who have enough devices would be better.

Excellent motherboard and definitely value for money. I paired it with Ryzen 5 3600, MSI GTX 1660 Super, and G.Skill Ripjaws V DDR4-3600MHz RAM.
Initially, I was worried because the RAM I bought was not listed on MSI's official site compatibility list. (Yes, I know, first we check the compatibility list. But they were on a crazy offer for 3600 MHz and I bought them impulsively. My mistake.)
However, as soon as I entered the BIOS, it immediately read them with XMP at 3600 MHz. (Before, it was reading them at 2133 MHz.) No problem, everything works perfectly.
For a first build, it didn't give me any trouble at all. There are hundreds of videos on YouTube for this specific motherboard. And in Greek and mainly in English.
It is also compatible with the new generation Ryzen 5000 with Zen 3 architecture. You just need to upgrade the BIOS.
To have a product come once broken from the store, I can say okay and return it, but for it to come and break again and there is no chance of it being repaired is ridiculous. The store from where I bought it wants 2-3 months just to LOOK AT IT, whether I will get another one is another matter
The best motherboard for its money that competes with even more expensive ones! Very high quality construction and very good power delivery! Recommended for any Ryzen processor!
Incredible motherboard! Just leave everything on Default and the PC flies!!
One of the best motherboards.. it cancels out the purchases in X470 for real!
If it had Realtek ALC1220 on it and an extra port, there would be really no reason to spend on going to X470!!
A motherboard of excellent quality for its price. I combined it with the Be quiet 500DX tower and due to my own mistake, I did not do proper market research so I did not know that this specific motherboard does not have a USB 3.1 port and RGB 3pin (it only has one 4pin and one 2pin) so now the front USBC and lights on the tower do not work. Minor inconvenience.
Classic high-quality MSI construction works perfectly with AMD 2600X Ryzen 5 CPU, 16GB RAM 3200mhz GSKILLZ, and MSI RTX 2060 8GB SUPER GAMING X GPU. No issues with the BIOS, plenty of ports, beautiful appearance, ideal for both Midi towers and value for money. I recommend it to everyone!
One of the best motherboards around or under 100 euros with support for all ram frequencies, very good vrm for overclocking and for those who want support for zen 3, the msi b450 max motherboards support zen 3 with bios flashback from the button they have on the back. I highly recommend it
