Health and Data Recovery
IronWolf Health Management (IHM) improves overall system reliability by displaying prevention, intervention, and recovery options. When IronWolf or IronWolf Pro hard drives are integrated into compatible NAS systems, overall system reliability increases due to continuous monitoring and user notifications.
Conventional Magnetic Recording Maintains Performance
Many users can simultaneously upload and download data to a NAS system with IronWolf hard drives.
IronWolf hard drives of 4 TB and above are equipped with RV sensors to maintain performance in multi-bay NAS enclosures.

Today I received and started setting up applications and transferring files to the new QNAP I received. It's quite fast but also quite noisy... I haven't heard such intensity from a disk in a while... I also have the old NAS (Synology) next to it with two disks and it rarely makes any noise, and even then it's minimal.
The 1st disk I received was Dead On Arrival. It never worked!!! The 2nd disk, as a replacement for the 1st, seems to be fine, fast, and quiet. I will update after a few months of use with my opinion.
24/7/2022: After one year, it hasn't had any issues.
16/5/2023: It's been almost two years and its health is 98%, according to the HD Sentinel Pro program.
31/3/2024: At three years, its health remains at 98%, the same as 10 months ago.
Purchased for desktop use, it has proven reliable so far.
It operates for many hours a day, almost full at 8TB.
The only negative is that it is noisy, but that is a matter of my own use with the computer on my desk.
I bought the disk in November 18th, I waited quite a bit (received it in December) but it was worth it.
I bought it for 220E, replaced the 4TB in my system, got one for starters and will get another one.
It's cool, very fast. No comparison to Archive or regular Barracuda. Of course, the downside is that it's not completely silent, the head in read-write is mainly quite audible, but both the PC and the room are completely silent, probably in another environment it may not be noticed at all.
As for reliability, time will tell.
P.S. 2021
The disk continues to work flawlessly (NV0022)
There are also NV004 disks in the system, equally reliable.
I have two Ironwolf 8TB drives in a NAS and in RAID 1 for almost a year. No complaints. I didn't expect anything faster since the gigabit ethernet sets the limits on my setup's speeds.
I have 8 disks, I have had them for about 4 months, so far no problem, they are (for engineers) quite silent, fast and if we continue like this without problems I will be very satisfied. In recent years, Seagate has improved a lot. The future will show
