A beautifully balanced processor for PC enthusiasts!
As part of the third generation of AMD's Ryzen 3000 series processors, the unlocked Ryzen 7 3800X offers revolutionary features such as support for fourth-generation PCI Express and a new processor microarchitecture, Zen 2. An impressive new feature compared to its predecessors? The 105 watt TDP. With higher speeds, more memory, and greater bandwidth, the new Ryzen processors will upgrade the ways you relax, work, and play. The AMD Ryzen 7 3800X processor includes 8 cores with 16 threads and a frequency of 3.9GHz that can reach up to 4.5GHz.
The processor does not have an integrated graphics card. This means that to have video output, you will need to use an additional discrete graphics card (discrete GPU), which will connect to the system's motherboard via the appropriate slot, such as PCIe (PCI Express).

3 words wow wow wow. It was preferred over a 3700 because the price difference was only 6 euros, so why not. It doesn't struggle anywhere, runs smoothly and cool, if you just surf you can't hear anything (the fan barely closes in regular use). The stock cooler is very nice, but I don't know how well it holds up for overclocking, I'm not an expert in that field, but it definitely holds up for gaming and browsing. It was paired with MSI B550 Gaming Plus, G.skill Trident Z 2x8GB 3600MHz, Sapphire Radeon RX 590 8GB Nitro+ Special Edition
Very good processor, I have combined it with a B450 A Pro Max MSI motherboard, a GTX 1660 OC 6GB Gigabyte graphics card, a 700-watt power supply, 16GB of RAM, and it works flawlessly. The temperature does not exceed 50 degrees and I play Fortnite Creative with 360 FPS and regular games like GTA RP with 240 FPS with graphics set to the highest
Processing power for a Creation Workstation PC without any flaws for 6 months with rough handling.
Combined with mobo: ASUS WS X570 PRO, NvME: Corsair FORCE MP600 (PCIe-4) 1Tb, even with the stock cooler, it doesn't go above 85°C at 100% load at 4.1GHz with Standard OC in the summer! after half an hour of usage!
It's definitely worth every € !!!
Very powerful and reliable processor. Its price has now increased due to the situation, but at 300 euros, which it was playing in the summer, it is one of the best choices in all areas. Finally, AMD is rising and with the 5000 series, it is soaring. It is suitable for all tastes, gaming, rendering, heavy multitasking. A truly value-for-money processor that doesn't hold back anywhere. The only thing you need to do is combine it with an aftermarket cooler and you will be fully satisfied. AMD should pay attention to the prices because with the 5000 series, they have raised them a bit, and I think they are out of competition. Anyway, it is a very good, powerful, and reliable processor that, for those who don't have the 'upgrade bug,' will last for many years without any problems.
€245, silver sample.
I wanted a processor with a lot of C/T for my CAD/Rendering workload. I come from an i5 6600K, so the upgrade is significantly better.
With Be Quiet! Dark Rock Pro 3, 42°C with OC (4.2GHz all cores. Whoever buys it must download CTR no matter what. OC + Undervolt with a simple program), and at full load it doesn't exceed 70°C.
The best value for money I found on Black Friday/cyber Monday.
10/10
Very good choice, although for something less you can go to the 3700 as their differences are minimal. Combined with RTX 3070, 32GB DDR4 3200 from G.SKILL on X570 mobo. Really fast, and good upgrade options in the future with PCI-E 4.0. The only negative is the Wraith Prism Cooler which, although it is very positive that AMD includes it in the package and it performs well and looks nice, it makes quite a bit of noise under full load. So, at some point, you will definitely want to invest in a liquid cooling or a quality cooler. An ideal purchase might have been the R7 3700 and with the money you save, get another excellent cooler from Noctua. Nevertheless, it is top-notch, you will be very satisfied!
They are also still in good availability while the price is quite good, although Ryzen processors have become very sought after. It certainly does not have the performance levels of the new 5800X (150-200€ more expensive) and the Intel i7 10700K is also very good (usually slightly more expensive and without a cooler in the package), but for a new AMD setup, it remains a top choice and is very powerful.
The only negative so far is somewhat the temperatures. If you set the power plan to AMD Performance, it can become a bit toasty. It reaches a maximum of around 82-83 degrees, which is not a lot but certainly more than we would like for a desktop PC. In the same power plan, you may also encounter some temperature spikes, which quickly rise high. For now, I have solved this problem by setting the power plan to AMD Balanced and since then I have not exceeded 73 degrees in any case, but you lose a bit of performance. Possibly an undervolt could also help even more, but unfortunately, I have not yet found the time to "tinker" with it. It is likely that with a more powerful cooler (which I am going to change soon), this issue will be completely resolved and the processor will be able to run as hot as it wants without being limited.
The processor is a beast for what it offers at the price it is available! It has 8 cores with 16 threads and can handle many tasks, thanks to its truly upgraded Zen2 architecture, which brings it just below (in single-thread scenarios) similar or even more powerful Intel processors. However, it really shows its teeth in multi-threaded processes!!!
The included fan, apart from the RGB features, is decent for stock settings. It is actually manufactured by CoolerMaster and simply rebranded by AMD to make it look like their own... You can download the supporting software for customization from the CM website. Overall, it is a good solution since the old stock coolers from AMD (speaking as a long-time user of many FX models that had simply funny HeatSink+Fans) were at least inadequate with throttling issues. It is available with 2 speed settings (silent and normal), depending on how intense airflow (+ noise inversely) you want.
For standard usage scenarios, you don't need anything else/different and it fits directly onto the motherboard - easy to install. However, if you want to push it a little further in terms of clock speeds (which I don't consider necessary), you definitely need a more powerful cooling solution with good airflow in the case and a reliable power supply to handle the extra power consumption! This parameter also exists, of course...
I haven't pushed it to its limits yet, as I mainly use it for database work, multitasking with heavy files/documents, internet, and gaming, so maybe I could have gone with a lower-end Ryzen 5, like the 3600! The important thing, though, is for it to have the advantage to withstand more than 2-3 years when all programs will require more resources! After all, more efficient models are released every year, so it is recommended for this price range (around €320 in 2020) to make it worth the money!
It is also good to download the Ryzen Master software and Chipset Drivers from AMD to fully customize the platform and correctly adjust the optimized power scheme!
Well, the CPU blows at 4.4oc, sitting at idle 29c to 32c and reaching a maximum of 50c in 16 hours of gaming. For such a powerful CPU, it needed the corresponding NZXT Kraken X72 liquid cooling in push/pull config to maintain these temperatures..!
From my perspective, it is a purchase without fear.
It is unbeatable in multitasking!
I doubt I will be able to push this CPU to its limits no matter what I do!
I don't know much about processors, but I definitely feel like I have a very powerful one in my possession. The temperatures after hours of gaming in the summer reach a maximum of 68-70 degrees. I imagine things will be even better in the winter. I haven't encountered any problems and I hope nothing will happen soon. Maybe I would change the stock cooler that comes with it, I mean for €380 that I paid, I would expect something a little quieter and with better results, but that's a matter of personal preference. A great value for money processor, I recommend buying it.
Update 18/11/2020 Okay, everything is perfect. It's incredibly fast. BUT honestly, as soon as you order it, get a new cooler because with the stock one, my neighbor thought there was an aircraft flying inside my house! Jokes aside, as impressive as the AMD stock cooler may be, it doesn't do the job and it's very noisy, so I definitely recommend changing it.
I bought it for 300 euros in combination with an RX 5700 XT, MSI B450 Bazooka, 16GB RAM 3200, and a 1440p monitor. It simply flies, I believe it's worth every euro. Before, I had the R5 2600 and I saw a really big difference!
If you want a processor that will easily run all the latest 3A games comfortably (in combination with a good GPU, of course), then this is a very good choice, especially considering its price at the moment. Additionally, it runs programs like Blender, Sony Vegas, Da Vinci Resolve, Premiere, Photoshop, and Audacity smoothly. To reach high loads (80% and above), you need to render 4K videos, work in Blender, have Spotify, Chrome, Photoshop, and a few more programs open in the background for this little beast to start struggling. Simply satisfied.
**NOTE: If you only want it for gaming and not for video editing, 3D animation, or anything else related, there's no need to go for the 3800X, as you won't see any difference with the 3700X. Personally, I chose this one because some programs I use better utilize the power per core rather than the majority of cores.
I HOPE I HELPED ANYONE WHO HAD DOUBTS ABOUT BUYING IT
We are talking about a monster simply! I don't have the slightest issue! Of course, the difference with the 3700 is very very very small! So I don't know why such a difference in money. I just decided to go for the best from the 7 series.
