Men's analog and digital watch chronograph by Casio, XXL size with rubber strap in black color. It features a solar mechanism, which converts solar energy into electronic energy. This energy is stored in the rechargeable battery and used to power the watch.
It is suitable for free diving with equipment. The watch is water-resistant up to 20 atm/200 meters. The values are not related to diving depth but to the atmospheric pressure used during the water resistance test. I bought this particular model purely for aesthetic reasons, specifically for the presence of the needle pointer function selector at position six on the dial compared to the newer gst300, and for its solar charging feature with energy-saving mode if you're not wearing it, which is common for Casio's solar-powered watches.
It is a G-Shock watch with Edifice-style touches, with steel and carbon in the case, and the quality is considered guaranteed. However, it does have some disadvantages, such as:
The bezel should have been slightly raised to protect the crystal. One solution would have been to use scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, which can now be found in Chinese watches for €60!
The innovation of the quick release on the strap is canceled out because you can't find a corresponding option in the market for 16mm straps. If you make a mistake or want to change the color, you have to either go for the black Casio strap or choose a non-quick release strap from another brand. However, they fixed this in the gst300 with a lug width of 20mm. I should mention that a good solution is to buy a stainless steel bracelet for this specific model for €15 from abroad.
Another thing that I would like, considering the price range of the watch, and perhaps Casio should change its mindset, is the option to set the alarm only for working days, like in the g7700, and with vibration, like in the gd350. I don't see any reason for such a feature to be missing, especially considering the energy-efficient vibrating motor since it has solar charging!
Other than that, the watch is flawless, with a legible dial, good luminescent material on the analog hands, and excellent backlight from the LED.
Even the negative display, which I no longer prefer due to presbyopia, is clear and easy to read, despite its small size.
Another useful feature is that when setting the time and alarm, the analog hands move so you can see the screen!
The Bluetooth connection is easy and quick, and you can customize the watch without having to read the instructions. However, here we have an annoying point: to connect to the Casio app, you have to press the corresponding button on the watch and, of course, have Bluetooth and GPS enabled on your phone, which can be a bit bothersome. These are the details for a watch that will serve you for years and years
