It is said to be around 800 grit, but I managed to sharpen knives with 440 steel and aus-8 with ease and patience and make them razor-sharp. It is easy to transport and use. It requires a little patience and effort until one gains the experience of angling the knife on the stone. There are countless videos on YouTube that can help with this. If one learns it, I can say that it is easier to sharpen with a waterstone. If someone wants a knife that cuts paper like butter, it is the best. If someone else wants their knife to shave beards and hair, then they will need to equip themselves with something more, like a waterstone with a grit of 10000> or at least some leather.
