Reviews
The PSU was supposed to replace an older (9 years) but fully functional Corsair CX 500 in the following system:
1. Gigabyte GA-B75M-D3H Mb
2. Intel I5-3470 Cpu. Stock cooler
3. ASUS GTX 750Ti OC GPU
4. 1x2.5" Fujitsu HDD 500gb, 1x 3.5" WD 1TB HDD, 1x 250gb Samsung 860evo SSD
5. 1x LG DVD RW
8gb Corsair Ram no Overclocking
With the new PSU, initially the operation was smooth. However, after 30-40 minutes, the computer would restart with a characteristic clicking sound. At the moment of the restart, there was no significant load (just browsing). The phenomenon repeated every 40 minutes to an hour. The PSU fan was working properly.
I had to reinstall the old PSU, which has been working fine for a week now.
As a test, I installed the Chieftec in a dismantled Core2Duo PC with 1 x Sata HDD and 2 x Sata DVD RW & Radeon R7 GPU, and the problem persisted. After a few startup attempts, it stopped booting. (Only the system fans were working)
I bought a Be Quiet Pure Power 11 500W and installed it in place of the Corsair to make sure it wasn't just a random incompatibility of a relatively new PSU model with my older computer systems. The new PSU worked perfectly.
After contacting Chieftec headquarters, they referred me to the store where I made the purchase. The store responded promptly and accepted the return of the product for inspection, where the damage was confirmed. The store credited the money back to my account since I had already replaced the PSU.
Conclusion: Essentially, I would characterize it as Dead on arrival. I consider it to be a stroke of bad luck. I cannot evaluate the PSU beyond the sound and its connectivity.Translated from Greek ·- Silent
