I have had the device for about 2 years and I can confidently say that it is not worth its money. The cost of the toner is very high and considering that it does not print as many pages as stated, it costs about 0.06 cents per page. As far as I know, there is no remanufactured toner available. In the original program, there is a return and discount program, but you have to mail them yourself and if you happen to find someone at the post office who knows about it. So, that is not a motivating factor either. The application it has for wireless printing is laughable. I managed to print once like that and then it constantly asks me to set up the wifi on the device, which is not very user-friendly with its 2-line screen. The most annoying thing is that it often freezes and starts printing symbols non-stop. And of course, to stop it from printing, I have to unplug it and remove the cartridge for 5-10 minutes. It makes noise during printing, but it doesn't bother me much. Overall, I regret not choosing a Brother model as I wanted, but laser printers are an incredible choice. You don't have to worry about the ink drying out, etc.
The cost per print is high. Additionally, sometimes it gets stuck when printing directly from the internet and produces many pages with symbols, it only stops if you pull the paper. Finally, you cannot cancel printing from the printer, it gets stuck again and prints pages only with symbols.
I bought the printer for professional use in February 2022 at a price of €300 and the toner for €50. It started causing problems after a few months. Specifically, it jams the paper when printing double-sided. I called the service, which is located in Pallini. They refuse to come and repair it, even though it's still under warranty, unless I pay or take it myself to Pallini! They eventually came and repaired it. The repair cost €55.80 (€45 + VAT). After a few weeks, it had the same problem again. In order to have it replaced, I have to take it to Pallini myself, without being sure if they will actually replace it. The automatic document feeder does not have scanning functionality for double-sided documents. Meaning, I have to place each page on the glass surface of the printer to scan. It does not print double-sided pages. Meaning, I have to place a document in the automatic double-sided document feeder and have it printed double-sided. This process is not functional for professional use. The printing is black and white. I regret buying it. Such a waste of money. Since the problem persisted, a technician came (January 2023) luckily and replaced the printer. Thank goodness for the technician! I hope we don't have the same issue again. Because, as the technician told me, it could be due to the humidity of the paper...
It is relatively cheap but...
The toner is expensive.
If you want to scan multiple pages, it does not save them in one file.
Its program is not very user-friendly.
The installation is relatively difficult
The worst thing is.. a new printer of 1 year and it keeps showing a red light and the indication to reinstall a non-existent or unresponsive cartridge while the ink is new. I need to remove the cartridge and clean the roller inside and then cross my fingers for the green light to turn on. The most wasted money I have ever spent
Very expensive toner. And there is no possibility of refilling or using from the parallel market.
7-8 times more expensive printing than others similar.
Stay away from Lexmark in general, for the same reason. I simply threw mine away. What a waste of money I gave.
I have it in my "hands" for 4 months.
The invoice is something over two hundred...
The machine generally worked relatively well until the toner ran out.
From there on, strange things start happening. The machine refuses to do anything. It must need some adjustment, it can't be possible! Scanning doesn't require toner!
Search the instructions, the menu, the machine, the computer...
Oh no!
Well, maybe update the driver, maybe the firmware?
Searching and wasting "free time" and labor.
None of these, the game is rigged by the company... As soon as the toner "runs out," or rather, not when it runs out but as soon as the counter hits zero, it refuses to scan.
The machine is ICE COLD!
I mean, what ice... It's the whole Siberia!
I searched online (we said labor in searching) and there is no solution.
Somewhere I even read that the toner chip doesn't work based on the pages and the actual data, but also in combination with the time it has been installed.
Whether it works or not, it's a countdown aiming for zero!
One star since there is no negative rating.
Purchased on 21/08/20.
Now it has 4 stars (minus one, which I will explain below), as I see that the problems with wifi disconnections and its inability to wake up from sleep mode have been fixed, probably with one of the latest firmware updates (currently it has MXLSG.075.272 and it's working fine, there is a new one available but I will consider it). Especially for the price of 109 euros that I bought it, I can't have any complaints. The toner that came with the package (700 pages), which I mostly operate in eco mode for environmental and economic reasons, and with the usage I gave it (printing distance learning materials and some personal stuff), lasted for about six months. I paid 70 euros for the 3000-page toner and I forget about it for 2-3 years, maybe even more, after all toner doesn't spoil, at least as far as I know. 70 euros for this period of time is not much. Anyway, I don't like "compatible" ones and I never buy them.
So, it depends on what you use it for. If, for example, you have to print 3000 pages every week, yes, the toner is expensive, but on the other hand, if your requirements are such, you do an extensive market research and go for something more professional and economical according to your needs.
The only downside for me... It doesn't scan front-back, but this can be solved with IrfanView (https://www.irfanview.com/). If you have to scan, for example, 5 sheets/10 pages front-back, you set in IrfanView --> Acquire/Batch Scanning - Setup: "starting counter"=1 and "increment"=2, so it scans 1, 3, 5, 7 & 9. Then you turn the sheets around and set "starting counter"=10 and "increment"=-2, so it scans 10, 8, 6, 4 & 2. You do a "combine to pdf" with the ten numbered files in the correct order of the document's pages and saved in the same location, and you have your pdf file. It's one or two extra steps but completely doable. Auto feeder is implied. In Greece, you may have to come up with a trick to get the job done...
Finally, overall, for my usage, it's value for money. Inkjet is over, never again!
And one last thing. In my humble opinion, a price difference of 195 euros that I see on Skroutz and 229 in "big" well-known stores is not worth it, regardless of the competition's prices. It's way too much for such a machine.
Very expensive toner cost. There are no compatible ones. The 3000-page toners cost 72€ and print about 2500 pages. After the toner runs out, you can't even scan.
Sometimes the paper chews. The Wifi is terrible. It has good prints. It is fast. But the worst of all are its expensive inks!!! I only recommend it for inks that are expensive and you can't find after-market ones. I didn't know... I didn't ask!?
It is the first time I buy a printer and it works as it should without driving me crazy every time I want to print something. Convenient, fast, has many functions and features, and most importantly, it WORKS when you need it.
Very good, economical, and fast for its price. The only disadvantage is that it doesn't fully wake up from sleep mode and you have to unplug and plug in the power and wait 2 minutes for it to boot up. What does "doesn't fully wake up" mean: you can print, but any other function that requires the use of the keyboard and screen does not work as the screen remains blank. With the previous firmware, it wouldn't even print, it would just throw an error on the screen when it tried to wake up from sleep. The service told me to wait for a firmware update, but it has been a while.
It is preferable to turn it off when not in use and turn it on whenever you need it. For someone who wants to scan/copy a lot but at irregular intervals throughout the day, it will be frustrating.
Update 2/21: Without changing anything, for the past 10 days it has started to wake up normally from sleep, the reasons are unknown...
While it is very good as a device, its installation is a big adventure. I recommend buying it from "your own" computer and not from department stores...
Simply excellent! It does an exceptional job for both family use and small office tasks. Especially considering the price-performance ratio, you simply get it.
Very good machine, very fast printing and double-sided printing. Easy and reliable wifi connection for computer and tablet. As for toner consumption, I haven't formed an opinion yet. The only negative is that if you unplug the machine and then plug it back in and turn it on, it takes a long time to come into operation
Price: 109€.
For this money, it is an excellent choice, at least for me who wanted a printer for home.
After several years with inkjet printers, this is the first time I am buying a laser one.
The installation is quite easy, just follow the steps below:
Unpack, remove the stickers, and open the printer.
From the LCD screen and the arrows, make the initial settings (language, supports Greek, enter wifi password, date-time, etc.).
When you finish with these, insert the CD into the PC and follow the installation instructions. I connected it with USB.
You are ready.
Many printing options and amazing and easy automatic double-sided printing!
I have not tried scanning and copying yet. When I do, I will write about it.
Oh! I should not forget to mention that from the printer menu, you can choose ID and document copying, as well as scanning from the PC.
That's it for now.
The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is because it doesn't have a dedicated scan button on the multifunction machine. It can be done either through a special program that needs to be downloaded from Lexmark or through the fax and scan feature of Windows. Basically, it requires one more click from an experienced user. But I have to say, once you set it up, it works perfectly and has fantastic printing and scanning speed. It works great with mobile devices and tablets as well. So yes, we're talking about an excellent purchase at a great price. Anyone interested shouldn't hesitate because it's like having a small independent printing house at home.
Purchase price: 109 Euros
Summary: It is a decent economical solution for a small office or accounting firm.
The "difficulties" that others encounter in the reviews:
1. Scanning via WiFi is easily done by downloading the genuine and safe Windows application (Document or Image Scan) from the Win10 app Store.
2. Software upgrade is easily done by downloading the latest "Guide" from Lexmark Support.
> The genuine toner is one of the cheapest but produces an average of 1,000 pages...
> Its plastics do have a "cheap" feel, but we are talking about a multi-function machine here, not a car... Minor drawback.
> It has low print resolution, but you won't notice any difference in your texts.
> It's worth mentioning that it has Duplex Printing (Front and back of the page), with automatic feeder, and prints 34 pages per minute, which makes it very fast for its price...
> In terms of money, it is Value for Money based on the basic needs of a small office.
> We can't have high expectations from a machine with basic needs...
> I have had it for 4 months and I am generally satisfied without any problems so far.
It is extremely difficult to set up wireless, and one out of two times it does not recognize it, it needs a cable. However, the most important thing that the consumer needs to know is that the prints are incredibly expensive. There are no compatible toners, the genuine ones cost over 40 euros and last for 1000 pages. On the 1000 pages, if you don't put a new one, the chip blocks the machine and you can't even scan - it immobilizes it! They force you to buy a new toner even if there is ink inside. Of course, you can't add ink. Additionally, every 10,000 prints you need to buy an imaging unit. The worst purchase I have made in the last decade for a printer. And so I continue to use the Samsung all-in-one printer that I have, despite being eleven years old, it prints just as well, if not better, the toner along with the drum costs 10 euros and lasts for 3000 pages. Do the math.
No and the best construction quality, its plastics are sensitive and it makes a lot of noise when operating. I confirm the required bios update needed for network operation (Ethernet cable). As soon as I took it out of the box and connected it with the Ethernet cable, it displayed firmware900 error and kept rebooting continuously. After 5 calls to the company's service for driver reinstallation, etc., the brand new multifunction device needs to go to the company's service for a bios update.
I HAVE it for 15 days, it is a great machine for its price, it's not worth paying more for something else. Some of the machines, when connected to the internet, give 2 errors. The first one, firmware900, you just make a phone call to the company and they tell you how to reset the board (press 26 and open it) and everything is fine. The second one is for the SMTP error, which is a setting that you simply close. Connect the printer to your modem (wifi), find the IP address of the printer either through your modem in the connected wifi or from the printer by going to Settings>OK>Reports>OK>Network>OK>Network Installation Page>OK. This will print 2 papers where it says the IP address 192.168.1.XX, then you enter it in your browser or whatever you have. Then go to the menu on the left that says E-mail and check "Disable the error 'No SMTP server settings'". That's it! Otherwise, it's a great machine without any problems and it's worth the money, because all of this is for a number of prints and then it's disposable.
I have it for 2 days on offer for 100€. It has a problem with SMTP error, it is a setting that you simply close. Connect the printer to your modem (wifi), find the IP address of the printer either through your modem in the wifi settings or from the printer by going to Settings>OK>Reports>OK>Network>OK>Network Setup Page>OK. It will print 2 papers where it says the IP address is 192.168.1.XX, then you enter it in your browser or whatever you have. Then go to the menu on the left that says E-mail and check "Disable the error "No SMTP server settings". That's it! To print from your mobile, I installed 2 applications: 1) Lexmark Mobile Print 2) Lexmark Print Plugin, although it can also be done with the Google app. On the PC, I installed both programs from the website since I don't have a CD-ROM, so I downloaded them from http://support.lexmark.com/index?page=product&userlocale=EL_GR&locale=el&productCode=LEXMARK_MB2236&segment=SUPPORT&nonEFIGSLanguage=en#2. I also did a firmware update and everything is fine! Printing is very fast! When printing an ID, it asks if you want to scan the other side and put it in the same place, it arranges it so that it goes on the same page. Automatic double-sided printing, perfect! I won't go to a photocopy shop again
