It's unbeatable.
8 seconds boot and it's into Windows!
I could say a lot more. =)
Compared to the well-known SSDs we knew until now, it surpasses them.
It surpasses them, due to the following:
-10% faster in game loading screens
-400% faster in read-write, install, file transfer, etc. (Crystal Disk Mark, User Benchmark)
-Smaller in size
-Doesn't need power cables
-Doesn't need SATA cables
-Helps with minimal builds/clean setups because it simply doesn't show
-Very good price for what it offers (€70 for the 250GB and €100 for the 500GB)
You just need a motherboard with an M2 NVMe slot.
5/5 from me
Also, I wouldn't recommend the 250GB (which is actually around 240GB) for gaming setups.
40GB is just for the x64 Windows, along with a few small programs.
150GB is for games like Red Dead Redemption 2 and GTAV.
With Windows and one game, it fills up. I wouldn't recommend having it full. It loses performance.
Better to have a 500GB one and not worry.
His life was 2 years and 3 months. The warranty provided by Samsung is 5 years or 600TB TBW. Mine reached about 10TB TBW so it is clear that it did not even come close to the warranty numbers.
For anyone wondering how it died. I opened my PC one day and for about an hour I did nothing, I just opened it and left it open on the desktop because I was doing other things away from the PC. I come back and see it frozen. I restart from the tower and from that moment only bios. I took the disk to a technician and managed to pull out some files that I wanted desperately, but generally from the diagnostic that ran on the disk its health was 0%. It is a great disappointment to buy a product and not even come close to half of what the manufacturing company guarantees.
The Samsung 970 Evo Plus 500GB SSD offers excellent performance with fast read and write speeds, ideal for demanding applications and gaming. The NVMe and PCIe 3.0 technology ensure speed and reliability, while the V-NAND memory enhances its lifespan. An outstanding SSD for users who need fast storage and consistent performance at a reasonable cost.
Incredible read/write speeds, there is a reason why Samsung SSDs are a step up in price, it has to do with the quality you pay for. On the negative side, I would say that it is difficult to tame the high temperatures it reaches due to its timing even with a cooling pad.
I am really surprised that there are negative comments. The product for its price is VFM without a doubt. The transition from SSD to M2 is 0-100. High speeds at a low price for 1TB. The only thing you need to pay attention to is that your motherboard has a slot... that's it!
If you are reading this review wondering if it's a good idea to spend your money on this SSD, DON'T DO IT.
Bravo Samsung, congratulations. You made an unreliable drive that decides to freeze while operating in Windows and only boots into BIOS. If I had known that every 1.5 years I would have to buy a new SSD, then I might as well stick with the HDDs that have been running for 6 years since I built the PC.
Don't think about the money; the money is the least of it in this case. Just think about how much work will go to waste because, in the end, I connected it to another computer and I can't access important files because it has write protection on its own, which I have not been able to remove by any means whatsoever.
Anyone who thinks Samsung is a reliable company should change sides. Ching-chong ahh products. I wish the worst for the manufacturers. Stay away from this Chinese monstrosity.
I have had it for 5 months. So far, no problems. It is quite fast and loads games in no time. A bit annoying that you pay for 1024 GB and have 931 GB available. Anyway, for me, it was the best choice for PCIE 3.0.
It has been combined on a B450m r5 3600 and there was absolutely no problem, it recognized it immediately, quite fast as promised, very good value for money
Perfectly fast as promised, it doesn't freeze anywhere. I work with Premier Pro, After Effects, and large 3D renders, 4K video files
The disk is excellent. However, it has an important flaw that you should be aware of. You will notice that the chips do not have the same profile height. If you use it with a cooler or in an external case and the thermal pad does not make good contact with the chip and case, it will overheat (70-85 degrees) during continuous prolonged file transfer (e.g. ~90GB). The solution is to get a 0.5mm thick thermal pad, cut it to the surface of the chips with a low profile, and add it to the original thermal pad you had to cover the height difference and ensure that the pads make good contact with the chips and case/cooler. The maximum temperature (during prolonged file transfer) that I observed after making this addition is 65 degrees.
Just installed it. Posting a photo from benchmark. I expected much higher speeds. I don't know if it's me or the disk, but I expected better results. asus crosshair vi hero x370 r7 5800x I don't think the rest of the system is to blame though. It's possible that something is wrong with the disk
Very good quality and fast. It has very good features with one big but. The 500 GB is now a very small space considering the volume of programs as it will fill up in no time without any special use, so I would prefer to go for at least 1TB.
I bought it on 22/10/2021.. good as long as it lasted.. Today, 18/12/23, it turned into read only.. I can't do anything.. Only to copy the files to someone else and throw it away.. Thank you Samsung
Very good. It has not presented any problems for a year now. I have not noticed any decrease in performance. I have not done professional measurements, but in everyday use, the machine has never given me any trouble.
Guys, I was a Samsung fanatic. I had the 830, 840, 850, and 860. Then I switched to 2X NVME 970 EVO Plus and eventually 980 PRO. The SATA ones didn't have a chance to break on me. I quickly switched to NVME. However, both 970s and one 980 broke in less than 6 months. Never again Samsung. I got an SN770 GEN 4 and a Crucial GEN 3 1GB. They are top-notch and with a tone. Not to mention that the prices are much better. Don't make the mistake, guys. Trust me.
Purchased in 12/2019, today 9/2023, it has lost 35gb and its speed has dropped to half of the initial. The picture speaks for itself.
I connected it to a Mac Mini M1 using an external Ugreen enclosure and a USB Type-C connection to use it as a scratch disk for video editing software. The first impressions are excellent and I am looking forward to seeing its lifespan.
He suffers from the same health decline issue as many NVMe SSDs from Samsung and other companies when in use. There is a possibility that within a minimal time frame, such as 1 year, the health may drop up to 10%. This is not something that the user does wrong, it is just how these SSDs are. Of course, the speed is unmatched.
For boot on MacPro 5.1, it doesn't work.
It's better to get the regular 970EVO or the 970 PRO that support booting.
For storage, the 970 plus is great with speeds up to 1500 read & write on Mac
As soon as we put it on the new PC we built and ran it, we didn't do anything special, but I can say that compared to a simple SSD I have on my personal computer, it runs much faster. I'm talking about the very basics. I'll be back soon for a full evaluation...
He will prove to be quite good in use and over time!
Dead after almost 2 years. It states that 10 TB have been written and it has turned to Read Only with no possibility of any editing, even diskpart cannot delete the partitions or format it, it has completely frozen.
I highly recommend it, especially at today's price. It truly delivers what it promises. It's very easy to install and runs even the most demanding games flawlessly on Windows.
An exceptional album delivers on its promises, even if it comes at a high cost!
With this hard drive and from 8g ram to 16 g ram, my laptop just came back to life, which had a simple ssd before...my fps in games went up from 60 with difficulty to almost constantly 120...a big change. I was ready to buy a new one, but a friend of mine suggested I try it as a more economical solution and it worked!
Gregory, reliable and delivers the maximum and what he promises.
It's worth buying from him for gen 3.0 without any hesitation.
I had the 500GB version for three years. I filled it up and upgraded to the 2TB version, since my motherboard doesn't have PCI Express 4.0 to justify the extra cost of the 980. Of course, the latter is a background-compliant, if someone predicts a future motherboard upgrade...
Regarding the management software: good-gold, but the ability to clone the old SSD is probably... theoretical, specifically if you copy M.2 to a newer/larger M.2, unless you have a 2nd (and free) slot for M.2. If you try to copy the new one while it's in an external case on USB, Samsung's software doesn't see it as Samsung, and doesn't proceed. I used Macrium Reflect to make the copy/cloning. I don't deduct points for this (it's not that difficult to find an alternative solution) but it may confuse some people.
I have it in my possession (500gb-90e) since December '20 and I haven't had the slightest problem with moderate use, gaming / design programs / browsing. Quite fast and reliable. I just think that 500gb is not enough. If you want the operating system, an antivirus, three AAA games downloaded at the same time with a couple of programs and a little storage space for images, documents, etc., you definitely need more than 500gb. That's why I suggest a small ssd (250-500 gb) for the operating system and then your choice with more gb for the rest depending on the budget.
After having such good reviews and performance, I said okay, I'll get this...
The first day everything was fine in terms of performance, although when I checked the HDDs with HDsentinel, it showed me 98% life from the first day. Now, almost a year later, it says 97%, but I didn't pay much attention because it's for the HDD...
Of course, I've searched everything on the motherboard, maybe something from the UEFI isn't activated or has a bug, but everything is okay... I don't know, maybe I just got a bad 970 Evo Plus.
