  The disk was purchased for upgrading a Lenovo Thinkpad T450 laptop. It was recognized directly by the BIOS and then disk partitioning and formatting were done without any issues (Debian Linux was installed). So far, the disk works flawlessly, although I have seen temperatures consistently at 60°.

  This review is about the capacity: 512 GB

  This concerns the 512Gb version (TS512GMTS430S). It was installed as a secondary drive in a DELL E5470 laptop. The main drive is also an M.2 SATA but full-length (2280) Samsung 860 EVO 1Tb. It was also tested in an external USB 3.1 enclosure.

  It performs well in terms of hardware, being fast with DRAM and SLC caching, and features like hardware encryption and secure erase.

  Unfortunately, during the writing of large files, it reaches VERY high temperatures, reaching up to 98 degrees, and even in idle, the temperature does not drop below 53 degrees. For comparison, the average temperature of the Samsung drive is 33 degrees, rarely exceeding 42, and the absolute maximum throughout its lifespan was 63 degrees.

  The drive works and has a 5-year warranty, but there is a problem. I don't understand how it can withstand such operating temperatures in the long run. It should be equipped with some kind of heatsink or come with a strict recommendation for using a heatsink. However, due to its size (2242), it is primarily intended for tight spaces in laptops, where the use of a heatsink, if not provided by the computer manufacturer, is difficult or impossible. I will have to determine if this is a problem specific to this particular unit or a general issue, and I will come back with an update.

  I am attaching the image of the drive's temperatures from the HDSentinel Pro program.

  Oh! The management software from Transcend only offers the basics, including a cloning program. Also, in my case, it was installed but does not launch (Windows 10).

  UPDATE 28/4/2022:

  In the end, the drive was deemed defective by the store where I purchased it, and they took it back. I did not get another one, so I cannot know if it was an isolated incident, but I fear it is a general problem with the 512Gb version, due to the many fast chips that require a lot of power to "run" at these speeds, being on a very small board that cannot dissipate their heat.
