The child used the NUK and we didn't have any particular issues. However, when he started teething, we got this one and I really wouldn't change it for anything! He uses it as a pacifier, as a toy, as a teether, and the pacifier really doesn't bother him at all. It doesn't hurt him around the mouth and he can even sleep on it without being bothered. It relieves his mouth from teething and it's the only thing he has accepted for relief. The only negatives are that I haven't found an effective way to clean the "bulb" and sometimes I lose the purple one because it's almost transparent, you can't hear when it falls, and it can bounce quite far, but it's a small inconvenience and after a while, you get used to it and can easily locate it. They are worth it!
