The operation of the DR-40X has been redesigned to be even faster and easier, even with one finger. Functions such as recording, level adjustment, deleting bad recordings, and adding markers require just the press of a button. Three different auto level modes (Limiter, Peak Reduction, Auto Level) can help avoid any distortion during recording.
You can use one of the six reverb effects on the input or output signal. The Overdub function allows you to add voices or instruments to existing files. There is also the Level Align function that smooths out sudden volume changes during playback, and with a built-in speaker, you can perform a quick check. Other features such as variable speed playback, low-cut filter, tuner, and more can be selected from the menu.
The new Dictation Mode allows you to quickly skip forward and backward to preset points during file playback. The new tape-style Overwrite mode with one level of undo allows you to select the exact point you want to replace by recording over it.
In addition to portable recording, the DR-40X can be used as a USB audio interface with two inputs and outputs, making it an excellent choice for voiceover work, live streaming, podcasting, and other applications with studio-quality sound.
