I bought two (installed on two different computers) and both of them broke down, with minimal use.

Bought it about a year and a half ago for 18 euros. I've watched around 30 DVDs and burned 5-6 DVDs with it. Suddenly, it stopped reading DVDs. It makes noise when opening/closing the tray, but it wasn't particularly bothersome during operation. Asus doesn't accept electronic RMAs for this specific product. With the money I would spend on sending it back and getting it repaired, I bought 2 LG ones instead. They should last me 2-3 years. That's their reliability. The judgment is yours

Without being used much (only a few readings and recordings), it broke down after 1.5 years. It could read some CDs but not any DVDs.

So far the only negative thing I have noticed is that when I turn on the PC, it makes a brief noise for 1-2 seconds. But other than that, it's not bad and for the 15 euros you pay, you can't easily complain about what you get.

Noisy, slow, and ultimately doesn't work from the button. It now only opens and closes manually.

Quiet and fast operation. It is of good quality construction. I recommend it for a normal frame. Good value for money in its category.
