It uses intense pulsed light (IPL), an innovative technology based on light emission and used in professional beauty institutes. Philips has adapted this technology for safe and effective use in the comfort of your home. Philips worked closely with leading dermatologists to develop this groundbreaking hair removal system. For over 10 years, extensive consumer research was conducted with more than 2,000 volunteers. Use it confidently for hair removal on the face (upper lip, chin, and sideburns) and on body parts such as legs, underarms, bikini area, abdomen, and arms.
The Philips Lumea applies gentle pulses of light to the root of the hairs. Consequently, the amount of hair that grows on your body gradually decreases. Repeating the treatment leaves your skin beautifully hair-free and smoothly soft.

I received it yesterday. It doesn't hurt particularly. I did armpits, face, and legs all the way up for the first time. The positive thing is that it has a mobile app and you can set when to be notified for the next session. I will get back to you when I do a few more to mention results!
For now, I recommend it for the reasons:
1) it doesn't hurt particularly and 2) you do it in the comfort of your home and whenever you want. Talk to you in about 2 months!
Update after 2.5 months: It is very good. I have seen a tremendous difference. On the legs, the hair is coming out very sparse and soft, in the armpits it doesn't come out as sparse, but it comes out softer and slower. In the bikini area the same, more sparse but not soft. On the face, I can't even discuss it, it's as if I never had hair. And after the first month, I wasn't very consistent with the appointments.
Anyway, I highly recommend it, you save money and time, both very essential!
I bought the machine about 1.5 months ago and I have had a total of 3 sessions. Overall, the pain is minimal, in fact, it can burn/sting in some areas, e.g. calves, bikini. I have already noticed a significant difference in hair thinning, but there are still areas where hair grows normally. I do a full body treatment and it takes me quite a while to finish everything, so the only downside is the speed. Other than that, it is a wonderful device, convenient, and it really works. The biggest difference I have seen is in the bikini area, maybe because the hair is darker. Also, the speed I use is 5, due to my skin color and hair type. It is important not to go over moles, pigmented skin, tattoos, etc. For now, I believe it is worth its price, the hair grows back slower and sparser, but it definitely requires more sessions to see the complete result. I will update again in 2-3 months!
Update 3 months later, it does indeed do its job very well, now I have almost no hair on my legs, but I definitely need to do touch-up sessions once a month because they start to grow back. I am not as satisfied with the bikini area because not all the hair has disappeared due to the pigmentation of the skin. If you do it systematically, preferably every 10-14 days, you will see results much faster. The only downside is that it takes time, meaning it takes about 2 hours to treat both legs properly. Also, it works slower on level 5 compared to other speeds. I still believe it is worth it!
Kids, it's awesome... the truth is that in the first 3 applications you can't see results, but gradually after 2-3 months the hairs start to decrease significantly... I recommend it
