Description

After extensive research and preparation, a collectible series of figures was created with the contribution of archaeologists and educators. The twelve gods of Olympus teach children valuable lessons in mythology through play!

Hera, daughter of Cronus and Rhea, is the goddess of the heavens and the protector of marriage. She is the only legitimate wife of Zeus. Hera's myths are related to Zeus's infidelities. To win Hera over, Zeus had to transform into a cuckoo, which fell at the feet of the unsuspecting Hera. The goddess took the bird in her arms, and then Zeus revealed his true form, married her, and made her Queen of gods and humans.

The most important place of worship for Hera was Samos. In art, the goddess is depicted as majestic and imposing. She wears a diadem or a polos on her head and holds a scepter, a symbol of authority, and a pomegranate, which is a symbol of fertility. The cuckoo (kokkyx) was a bird dedicated to her by the ancients and symbolized her union with Zeus.
