Coming from a cheap Kemei that worked wonders, this one unfortunately disappointed me. Weak, it often needs to be passed multiple times and doesn't cut well. The good thing is that it has several heads for every occasion. I will keep it for trimming in sensitive areas and not for the face.
Unfortunately, the machine is of very poor quality, even though it is Panasonic! Let's start with the basics.... it doesn't shave well at all! You pass the machine once and it only catches some hairs... maybe! Oh yes... I wrote "catches"! Exactly, that's what it does! In some instances, it pulls the hairs instead of cutting them! In other words, it doesn't do the job it's supposed to do well at all! Also, when it's charging, only one (red) light turns on to indicate that it's connected to power, but it remains red even when it's fully charged (meaning you never know when it's fully charged!).
Disappointment!!! The most wasted money I have ever spent! I am generally a fan of Panasonic, I can't understand how this product was released... You have to go over the same spot 3 times and still not be sure if you shaved!! I had the Panasonic ER-1410, the TOP!! I feel like I had a Ferrari and suddenly it turned into a Fiat...
I used this specific machine for 5 years until the internal spring of the machine broke. Overall, the machine gets clogged relatively easily, especially if you have "difficult" hair. For trimming and grooming the body and face, it is quite satisfactory and does not cut the skin. It does not have much power, so if you want it for haircuts, even amateur ones, stay away. I consider the nose trimmer that comes with it unacceptable, as it struggles to cut the hairs. Personally, I would not buy it again
I would describe it as an average hair trimmer for short haircuts. I have had it for 4-5 years and the blade in the front broke, so I decided to help someone who wants to buy it with a review.
Pros: small in size, waterproof, rechargeable.
Cons: both the machine and the nose trimmer get clogged, and the nose trimmer is also weak.
I have been using it for almost 4 years now, on my body (legs, arms, chest, shoulders, armpits) and sometimes on my head, and the machine is generally satisfactory. It definitely doesn't have the power that the more expensive ER1421S has (which I happen to have used), but it covers what I need. I have never needed the machine for nose/ear hair, so I can't have an opinion on that. I also can't have an opinion on how it works in water (it says it's waterproof and can be used while bathing). I also only use one of the 4 attachments it comes with. One downside is that it takes a long time to fully charge (16 hours according to the manual) and you can't charge it and use it at the same time, but these are not major issues. To give you an idea of how long it lasts: personally, I can manage to trim my legs, arms, and maybe armpits. If I were to buy a trimmer again now, I would only get the main machine for around 25-30€, or the aforementioned ER1421S (or something similar) for around 80€, and I would use it on my body even though it says it's only for the head and professional use. It fully charges in 1 hour and it's really powerful.
October 2021: I have now also purchased the ER1421, which I use as the main trimmer for my head, face, and legs, but it doesn't cut as close as the ER-GY10, so I have kept it for areas where I want a closer trim, like my face. However, I changed its battery (it comes with a factory-installed Panasonic 700mAh battery, and I replaced it with a regular 1600mAh AA battery of an unknown brand). Because of this, it now lasts a very long time, you could probably do your whole body twice. Imagine if I had used a 2100mAh or 2500mAh battery. However, it takes correspondingly more time to charge, which is logical. (For changing the battery, watch a relevant video on YouTube titled 'Panasonic ER GY10K trimmer repair at home', it's relatively easy, you just need to wedge the new battery a bit because it's longer). I forgot to mention that I don't regularly oil either of the two machines (as the manual suggests before and after each use), without noticing any problems. Nor any improvement in function/sound when I do oil them. I oil them whenever I feel like it, whenever it comes to mind (about once every 10 uses) (brushing with soap, rinsing, drying, oiling)
As a self-punishment that I bought it, I will use it for a year and turn it into a fan in the car that the air conditioner broke down.... Panasonic and exhausted.
