On September 1, 2009, I completed 37 years of service in a wonderful profession in our society. The profession of the Certified Public Accountant. It is a professional title for which I took an oath on October 29, 1973, to serve it in the best possible way. I have always tried to uphold this oath.

The late Ioannis Kambalouris, Certified Public Accountant and for many years President of the Body of Certified Public Accountants, provides the following definition for the Certified Public Accountant:

"A Certified Public Accountant is the officially recognized by the State, or accepted by the relevant accounting organizations of a country, specialized professional who responsibly conducts objective and unbiased audits or expert opinions on accounting books, records, and statements, on financial transactions and the financial status of all types of businesses, legal entities, organizations, and economic units in general.

The word certified, meaning obligated by oath, prevailed in our terminology for this category of auditors or experts, mainly because certified public accountants, before assuming their duties, take the prescribed oath before the competent authority, and in a broader sense due to the responsibility towards the State and the economic responsibility in general of those practicing this profession.
For the conduct of audits of business financial statements, above all, thorough accounting education and experience are required, and it is also a rule that without some form of accounting organization, especially thorough, management audits are not possible.
