Description
Napoleon Bonaparte's quote, according to which history is written by the victors, was cynically justified in the case of the national resistance of the Northern Epirus during the period 1941-1945.
The author of this forgotten 1947 document, which we are publishing in Greek today, narrates in a shocking way the events that took place in the martyred and archaic Greek Northern Epirus during the period that followed the withdrawal of the Greek Army in April 1941. Their struggle to protect the lives and property of the population and to achieve union with Greece was two-fold. They had to fight against the Italian and German conquerors on one hand, while at the same time defend themselves against the savagery of Albanian gangs, both "nationalist" and "communist".
The victory of Enver Hoxha, thanks to the support of the "allies", mainly Yugoslavs under Tito and British agents operating in Albania at that time, neutralized the second attempt by Northern Epirus patriots for liberation since 1914. Their heroic struggle was drowned in blood and silence. This book attempts to reconstruct this truth, fighting against biased propaganda, oblivion, and betrayal.
We are convinced that in the case of the current Northern Epirus issue, history and truth may lose some battles, but in the end, they will win the War.
