This specific DJ Controller is considered by many as a very good choice for beginner DJs.
- In terms of sound quality, it is just what you need and the volume levels are very satisfactory.
- In terms of ease of use, you simply download the drivers, a DJ software, and you're ready to go. It should be noted that it comes with DJUCED, which I personally found somewhat limited.
- In terms of button variety, it has the basics for a DJ, but I recommend customizing them to do double the functions (details below).
- In terms of build quality, it seems sturdy, although the buttons are a little noisy (they don't bother at all with the volume turned up). Also, the knobs are quite good for their price.
- In terms of connectivity, it has USB for PC and left-right for speakers and amplifiers (RCA->RCA cable), but one negative aspect I found is that the USB cable is permanently connected to the controller and cannot be removed, which means that if it breaks, the controller is done for.
- Now, regarding the plethora of functions, in the default setting, it's just what you need for those who want the basic effects, etc. But instead of DJUCED, I preferred Virtual DJ. The trick to making it better is by using custom mapping on the buttons. You will greatly enhance the capabilities by a huge percentage, and the buttons will do exactly what you want. Then, I moved on to Traktor, which has even more mapping options. Today, I have transformed it from a 2-deck to a 4-deck for basic remixes that don't require excessive processing, and it's worth every penny. Just understand that without the effects and sound card, they are simply buttons, ALL controllers. The more buttons, the more options. I combined it with an AKAI MIDIMix for effects and faders for the third and fourth channel.
In general, I recommend it for beginners or those who don't have the money for those expensive pioneers. Remember, kids: Songs > Skill > Equipment!!!
