What can I say about this lens, it is a professional lens with crystal-clear video and photos, silent and with perfect autofocus!! It is worth it and for its price, it is a must-have for Canon RF users!!
My first lens for the RF system that is not an L lens and so far I can say that I am very satisfied. I bought it purely for weight and size reduction during travels and for the convenience of carrying it around when I have the camera hanging on my neck, but I didn't want to sacrifice image quality too much. For me, it does exactly that perfectly. It is particularly lightweight and you can walk for hours with the camera around your neck. The size is also great, not too small. You feel it, holding the camera. The autofocus with the Canon R6 is not instantaneous like with the L lenses, but it is sufficient for subjects that are not moving extremely fast. It focuses quickly and decisively in photography, just not instantaneously. In video, it focuses slower in order to be silent, and if you have focused very closely (macro) and want to focus far away immediately, it will take some time. If you're not shooting professional videos with it, this won't bother you. The autofocus in video is silent, but in photography and in a quiet environment, you will hear it focusing. The sharpness is very good, very close to the L lenses, at least in my opinion, and the bokeh quality is also very good. The stabilization is another advantage and it works as it should. In conclusion, I bought it mainly for travels where I want a small weight and size, and I have already used it on one of those trips and I was completely satisfied having only one lens with me. It is versatile in these focal lengths, you can capture almost everything. I never felt that I was sacrificing image quality or that I wanted something wider. Maybe a few times I wanted to have the 70-200 with me, but if the shots are not critical and are more for memories, I don't think there is a problem with that. A perfect lens for relaxed trips and hikes.
I should note that the lens extends quite a bit to focus, but it retracts perfectly when you close the camera without protruding anything, which I like.
Let me write my review too. I have been using it for about 8 months and my usage has been amateur, nevertheless I believe it is worth someone's purchase. It is very lightweight, has good sharpness and colors, very fast auto focus, and even performs very well in low-light photography. It offers great value for money for a lens that covers 80% of your needs if you want to shoot portraits, landscapes, street, etc. Additionally, the bokeh it produces is very good and its macro capabilities are commendable
Exceptional lens for Canon's mirrorless full-frame system.
Can be used for portraits, street, and landscape photography.
It is an intermediate stage for professional quality (stopping down to at least f/2.8).
Its macro capabilities are good, and the IS greatly helps with low light photography.
