The RF50mm f/1.2L USM lens offers a new kind of optical performance for full-frame photography. It guarantees exceptional clarity and sharpness, allowing you to discern every detail even at the edges of the frame.
The lens's 50mm focal length has a perspective similar to that of the human eye and an extremely wide f/1.2 aperture that allows for very shallow depth of field shots – ideal for sharply highlighting features such as eyes against a soft out-of-focus background.
Thanks to its fast maximum aperture and exceptional quick focusing capability, the RF50mm f/1.2L USM lens is ideal for street photography, offering new levels of sharpness when shooting with available light.
Printing photos captured with the RF50mm f/1.2L USM lens is pure joy. The levels of detail are incredible, allowing artistic photographers to create even more impressive exhibits.
The maximum f/1.2 aperture of the RF50mm f/1.2L USM lens is the widest in Canon's EOS series, enabling photographers and filmmakers to shoot with extremely shallow depth of field – an excellent way to highlight the subject against a complex background.
Specifications are collected from official manufacturer websites. Please verify the specifications before proceeding with your final purchase. If you notice any problem you can report it here.
Positive: The build quality is very good, although the lens is made of high-quality plastic and not metal. The focusing speed with the Canon R6 is also very good, considering the large crystals that the focusing mechanism needs to move. The autofocus system is silent in photography and makes a slight noise in video that will not be bothersome (no comparison to the Canon EF 50mm f/1.4, which was very loud on the camera's microphone). The lens sharpness is absolutely excellent and the bokeh quality is exceptional. The colors it captures are fantastic, usually with less saturation than other L lenses, often requiring no post-processing or correction.
Negative: It does not have image stabilization, so if one has a body with stabilization, it will be more convenient for video. It is a relatively heavy lens, considering it is fixed at 50mm, but the optical result justifies the weight. There are 50mm lenses with less weight, but they do not compare optically. This lens is very sharp already from f/1.2. Whether someone will close the aperture depends only on what they want to achieve and not on how much sharpness they desire.
The lens is optically perfect. In pursuit of this, they have made some sacrifices, such as image stabilization, the plastic body, the weight, and the high price for such a lens. If you want the best optically 50mm lens and one of Canon's sharpest lenses overall, then this is the one with a result that is almost magical in every photograph. And it comes with a corresponding cost.

If you exclude its weight, it is perhaps the best lens in its category that I have ever used.
