The family is a central theme in human life. The many changes that have occurred in this institution, such as divorces and different types of families, especially in recent decades, have sparked a plethora of research from various scientific fields to investigate the factors that led to these changes, the impacts on family members, and the enhancement of processes associated with the creation of healthy families, regardless of their form. Boundaries are a fundamental concept in the functioning of systems, established from the beginning of the systemic approach. They refer to the factors, properties, and processes that define the identity of a system and differentiate it from other subsystems. The study of boundaries in the family allows for the investigation of the processes and factors associated with the initial creation of the family system and the formation of its identity, its functioning, as well as its evolutionary course. 

This selection also provides the opportunity to study issues related to the creation of the couple and their relationship, the individual and the formation of their personality, and the family as a whole. Highlighting the processes by which these basic subsystems are formed and function also provides the principles and methods for intervention and therapy where problems exist. Due to the information provided on the basic principles of the systemic approach, which apply not only to the family but also to other biopsychosocial systems, this book serves as a useful aid for teaching the systemic perspective.
