  I had the signature elite 50 a while ago which were excellent speakers, and now I have the 55 which have even bigger sound and performance at higher volumes. I come from various technics/jbl/magnat speakers of 30-20-10 years. The build quality of the polk for our era and in this price range is unique, if you get this speaker once you will find it hard to be satisfied with something else in the thousand range. I didn't want to get a speaker with paper or copper, I even fear the common rubber on the cones, those who have kept speakers for many years know the factors that lead to service and I wouldn't want to see pierced-torn-twisted points in the next years since I am a lover of high volumes. So, compared to the excellent 50s, I would recommend the 55s for a sound of greater dimension, stronger bass at high volumes, larger cabinet, even lower frequencies, higher sensitivity, and what I like in the polk of course is the control and restraint they show in the right places, the speaker produces what I demand to hear, that is sound with control and analysis. At this point, I will mention that I could get the 60s but I prefer the speakers with 2 woofers because I don't like the cabinet to have many holes, nor do I want to visually see many speakers around the screen, however the 60s in turn enhance the bass and midrange by 1 notch. If I go up in money I will go for the r700 because I also see that they have not been stingy and squared touches.

  The speakers are incredible..... Unbelievable quality... With the right amplifier and proper setup, you will hear Music... They are worth every last euro.... Bass.... You don't need a woofer.... My house is shaking.... Personally, I use them with the Yamaha a-s501 and they lose.... I should have gotten a more powerful one
