The taste has changed. Pure bitterness. You haven't tasted hazelnut for a very long time. That's it. I'm switching and going to another brand, or try nut flour in stores, it has hazelnut without sugar and is naturally sweet.
Nothing like the Merenda of the 90s that we grew up with.
The quality and taste keep getting worse.
It used to be a close competition with Nutella for which was the best, now it's the worst of all premium spreads.
Like sugar with cocoa and sunflower oil.
Not solid at all anymore.
Very expensive for its quality.
Really terrible! And I thought I was the only one! Nothing like the old one! Completely different taste and texture, not to mention it's also super expensive at nearly 5 euros for the large box!
Okay, the fact that it's not like the Merenda of the 90s that didn't have palm oil, I think we all knew that. But I bought some days ago and it was even worse than the previous times. Kind of watery. Overall, look for pralines without palm oil. Most of them in recent years have palm oil for reduced production costs, they have worse taste and are also quite bad for your health. Try Sisinni
Because I grew up in the 80s and have tried the old Mareda, it has nothing to do with this product or the other famous pralines on the market. The old one was simply the best and the most delicious, it had the right amount of sugar, cocoa, and of course hazelnuts. Unfortunately, this particular one that has been circulating for decades is not worth it, I rarely buy it just to make a dessert or a crepe
I came to write this comment because the quality of the praline has changed a lot. The texture is not like before. Yes, I am 30+ and I remember like yesterday the texture it used to have. Thicker texture and more intense flavor. Now, there is no comparison, they have thinned it out too much, such a shame. I am searching on Scroutz for the first time to buy another praline and until now I was a fan of Merenda.
I wonder how some of you say "the same that has been passed down through generations," the taste in recent years is not nutty but more caramel-like, obviously they changed the recipe, it has nothing to do with the Merenda that all of us 30+ knew, what a shame
The older generation grew up with Merenda, but no matter how addicted we became to its taste, there are two truths that we must admit. Today, there are many more options on the market compared to the past, and objectively better quality products, with much more hazelnut content, etc. Additionally, the taste has deteriorated compared to before. If you search, there are blind taste tests abroad that include Merenda. In all of them, Merenda is at the bottom, Nutella somewhere in the middle towards the top, and some that we don't have here are at the top.
Very mediocre now, they have ruined the taste for many years. Probably those who dislike it don't know what taste it had in the 90s
I have tried many commercial and non-commercial spreads, and I always come back here.
It has the perfect density, fluidity, and taste for any use.
If someone wants a spread for a very specific use, there is a chance they might prefer another one (e.g. for crepes, Pralina ION is better).
But with Merenda, you have a spread that is delicious even when eaten plain.
Bonus: The large jar of one kilogram is always under 5 euros per kilogram (most chocolates are priced at over 13 euros per kilogram)
and also, the jar is very easy to clean afterwards with warm water and a sponge, and you can use it for Nespresso capsules, cable organization, etc
What can one say about Merenda? The taste of our childhood, a classic flavor that goes well with almost everything, and can even be eaten plain with a spoon
I have been a fan of Merenda for years... but.
I bought 2 packages from different stores with a time difference of about a month, and unfortunately they are terrible.
Yes, they have nothing to do with the well-known traditional taste of Merenda that we all know.
Even the color they have is different, and they were in the pantry...
More disappointment as there is one Merenda and the others are like Merenda.
I hope the right person sees this and takes the necessary action as I am not looking for anything else but for it to be fixed.

The classic fantastic merenda. I constantly buy it and my children enjoy crepes
Mild taste, not as delicious as the old one with plenty of hazelnuts. Such a shame!
Unfortunately, it has nothing to do with how it was in taste and texture. It is now unacceptable. What a shame
