****after 2,5years of intensive usage (twin’s water needs) it stopped working. As soon as it starts heating up the water it abruptly stops the process. Despite the heavy usage during this time, we took great care of the appliance with proper and often descaling and always taking care not to place it at dump or wet areas/surfaces. Looking back at the average cost of almost 2,5€/month (for 30months or so) it left me satisfied but I guess when you consider the overall investment up front of nearly 80€ you won’t be blamed to be bitter.
I have used over 10 kettles, but this one MAKES MORE NOISE THAN 10 KETTLES TOGETHER. It's like an airplane taking off, crazy noise. I had one from England for half the price, and it was quiet and fast. Disappointed here with Philips, even though they are generally a good company. I am thinking of returning it (as soon as I received/tried it), if I am eligible.
This expensive kettle was purchased in September 2022 and broke in June 2023! The base was replaced due to warranty, but I don't trust it at all.
Very satisfied with its performance! Ideal size for our needs!

Having lived with this kettle for a year now, I can say that I am very satisfied with the whole experience.
I bought it for the convenience of temperature selection, which I thought would also offer savings, and for the sturdiness of the metal construction.
Without having bothered to measure the savings, I know they exist since I usually choose 60 or 80 degrees and rarely 100, which is the only "option" in classic kettles. Whether it will make up for the extra money it costs is directly related to its longevity. However, my previous experience with Philips kettles (15+ years of trouble-free service until I broke it, not it breaking down on its own) tells me that I will ultimately come out ahead. The missing star from my rating is for the purchase price of this specific model, around €70.
It has hardly collected any limescale inside. I have only cleaned the filter that strains the water at the outlet once so far, having noticed a change in the water flow. More limescale appears at the spout where the water dries.
I believe the metal construction is of top quality. Inside, the device shines, and you feel like you are holding something very sturdy. I even consider its plastics to be of very good quality. I couldn't say this so comfortably about my previous kettle, which was all plastic, but still, as I mentioned before, it lasted 15+ years.
I promise to come back after a few years and add the fifth star if it turns out that you really get what you pay for, as I expect. Because savings are ultimately a function of what I call "special cost of use," which I define as "return / investment per year."

The stars have dropped to 3.
The kettle refuses to heat the water. I have owned it for 3.5 years. An excessively short period for Philips and €70.
I called the dealership, which referred me to an "authorized partner" in my area. Zero result. They looked at it, did not perform any diagnostic action (I assume due to the fact that it is electronic), and insisted that the problem is with the jug and not the base.
My feeling is that something is wrong with the base and the temperature sensor because as soon as I start it, the temperature at the base blinks, indicating that it has reached the target temperature. My options? From spare parts, there is only the base, which costs more than a new complete kettle (the model is still available), so that’s out of the question. Another option is to buy the same one (€69) and identify the fault since I would have 2 jugs and 2 bases, and try to operate the old one again for backup with the same means or with some technician for electronic boards.
Result:
I ended up buying a less famous brand electronic kettle for half the cost BUT WITH the +3 year warranty offered by the SKROUTZ platform. So I have now invested a total of €39 for 5 years.
Conclusion:
NEVER AGAIN small appliances of any level only with the factory warranty of 2 years. If it’s longer, fine. Otherwise, I will add the Skroutz warranty for +3 years. Even if I did my "thing" and bought the same Philips again, I would add the +3 years warranty for a final price of €77/5 years.

P.S. To give credit where it’s due, the jug became sparkling clean in 10 minutes with a bit of vinegar + water and without even heating. Like new. I made this desperate attempt in case it recovers.
We bought this kettle mainly for the baby's milk.
For this use, it is perfect and has helped us a lot.
We boil 1 liter and then simply reheat it in half a minute at 40 degrees.
I remember the tricks we used to do without it and how easy it is now.
Its construction is excellent, stainless steel container, very easy to use with 6 buttons, each with a separate function and LED lights up according to the setting, audible notification for when it finishes or if the water is already hotter than the setting, and an excellent and removable salt filter, which has its limits as it is natural. Cleaning with white vinegar and water is very easy.
It's worth the money.
There are two drawbacks:
1. The short power cord - which is the same in all devices, but for its price, I expected a few more centimeters than other devices.
2. Because it is stainless steel, when the water heats up, the container gets hot - if the water is at 100 degrees, burning is certain. Steel transfers heat to the skin much faster than plastic.
The first impression from the device is good. Compact dimensions (so much so that I doubt the 1.7L), good build quality, a real gem for the kitchen. The boiling noise is normal, as well as the time it takes. The only negative is that the kettle gets hot on the outside and if you're not careful, you can get burned! But that's why there is a handle, and you only hold a kettle from there. Just be careful if there are small children around and they put their hand on it...
Update: The kettle is a bit slow in terms of timing. This happens because it has a peculiar way of operating, starting and stopping 1-2 times until it reaches the temperature degrees you have set. Personally, it doesn't bother me...
The temperature selection is very helpful, especially for baby milk, tea, etc. It makes quite a noise when boiling, boils relatively slowly but it's not a problem. I don't know if it catches limescale because I have had it for a short time, but overall it's a very good kettle
The temperature options and the "keep warm" function are clearly the biggest advantage of this specific device. It is very useful for baby milk and other beverages that do not necessarily need the water to boil.
