While in the outskirts of Caesarea Philippi, Jesus asked his disciples, "Who do people say that I am?" The answers he received differed in details but agreed in essence, as they all recognized him, with some variations, as a prophet. On the other hand, the answers given today to the same question by expert scholars - prophet, false prophet, Christ (Messiah), magician, Son of God, incarnate Word, deified man, solar myth - differ radically even in essence. Therefore, it is reasonable for one to wonder which of all these conflicting answers corresponds to the historical evidence that can now be considered established based on generally accepted criteria of historical research. This book aims to provide as objective an answer as possible to this question by determining, based on the indisputable conclusions of historical criticism and critical examination of sources, who Jesus of Nazareth really was, what his personality was like, his teachings, and the mission he believed he was entrusted with by God.
