I bought two of these hygrometers a few days ago, which I compared with three others that I had at home and at work. After observing for several hours, the result is that it measures the temperature correctly (+- 0.5°C maybe, but for me that's not a problem), while both of them showed 5-10% lower humidity than the rest (more expensive) hygrometers. So, if you keep that in mind, you can do your job normally.
Pros:
- Very nice, fits well on a wooden surface or on the wall (has a hanging spot)
- Lightweight, user-friendly
- Easy-to-read screen, large letters. However, no backlight (for nighttime)
- Accurate temperature indication (for my needs)
- Humidity indication not correct, shifted downwards by 5-7%, but this error was consistent in all spaces and times that I checked (indoors, outdoors, in another house, etc). So, since I know it, I add the difference and feel confident in the calculation.
- Good/reasonable price
Cons:
- Error in humidity (5-10% lower). At least it's consistent. However, the two that I bought didn't show the same humidity, and they differed by about 3% (e.g. the actual humidity was 50%, one showed 45% and the other 43%). Therefore, you need to place it next to a reliable/expensive hygrometer (e.g. an expensive dehumidifier) at least once to see in your case how much the instrument's error is, and then you're okay.
- It is somewhat sensitive in terms of build quality, meaning when you press the min/max button from the back, the front screen gets a little blurry as if you were pressing the screen itself with your finger.
Overall, I would recommend it to those who care about appearance and this specific design, and don't mind having a 5% error in humidity indication (ideally, they should measure it themselves like I did).
On the other hand, if you want something more professional, increase the cost a bit and get something better.
P.S. Another hygrometer model (~15€, TFA Style) also shows the same humidity error, which I discovered now when I did the test. Generally, the sensors should be the same/similar in all models of this type on the market, and practically, only the design changes.
