Very good case. The hard drive fits easily and the case closes like a wallet without needing tools for replacement. Good protection, the hard drive does not move, nor does it rattle, and the plastic inspires confidence. The speed is very good, practically reaching the natural speed of the hard drive 120-140 MB/s. I have tried various hard drives as well as SSDs, all work very well and quickly.
Looking at classic reviews, comments, etc., I finally ended up with this case. Although it is more expensive compared to others, I preferred it because of its construction and speed. So, the hard drive fits perfectly and doesn't move, and I also believe that it will withstand more vibrations (if they occur) compared to other cheap ones. The only downside is that the cable is a bit short, but that's the least of it... Personally, I would go for this option again and wouldn't hesitate to spend a few extra euros. I hope I helped somehow!
Very good product, it does what it promises.
CAUTION. Connect it directly to the computer's USB port and not with an extension cable because if it is more than 1m, in my case the device made disconnections and reconnections possibly due to voltage loss from the long USB cable. When I connect the cable directly to the computer's USB port, it works perfectly.
It is one of the best cases for a 2.5" disk - HDD or SSD, very easy to adapt the disk even a 1st grade elementary school child can do it without instructions.
Excellent case!
The disk fits comfortably and easily by unlocking a plastic latch on the side of the case, which opens like a small suitcase, so there are no screws or tools needed to insert/remove the disk.
It has a soft shock-absorbing silicone lining that "hugs" the disk, and when closed, it acts as a "seal" with the lid that insulates the case from water and moisture.
Attention! It is NOT WATERPROOF, it is simply resistant to water droplets and humidity, as the USB port cover is a thin rectangular rubber that comes off more easily than it should and does not make perfect contact, so water can enter from there.
The disk connects easily to the internal circuit board, more or less in the same way that all similar cases connect. If someone wants to constantly connect and disconnect disks, they should get a Docking station instead of a case, as that is not the intended function and sooner or later something will break and they will blame the case.
It comes with two adhesive foam pads of different thicknesses to stick on the disk so that it is securely in place and does not have any vibrations inside the case (e.g. for disks with heights of 5mm, 7mm, or 9.5mm).
The disk I installed has a height of 9.5mm and I needed the small foam pad to prevent it from moving. With some reservation, I believe it can fit a disk of up to 12.5mm, definitely not larger because the lid will not close.
The cable that comes with it is a USB 3.1 micro-b type and is approximately 20-25cm long.
The only negative aspect that might bother some people, but only for specific use, is that there is no way to cool down the disk during prolonged operation, as it is essentially enclosed in a thick black plastic case wrapped in a silicone cover, so there is no heat dissipation, and it is advisable not to leave it under the sun and work with it for long hours during the summer.
5 Stars and nothing else...
It protects the disk perfectly, it also fits the old SSDs that had a slightly larger thickness...
And IF you see the disk heating up after many hours, it's not a problem...
It opens so easily and simply like a wallet, and you can leave it open to cool down the disk while it's running. This is the second one I ordered...
Well done, ADATA.
I have tried 5-6 cases in the last 20 years.
By far, the most user-friendly one that offers me tremendous security in terms of disk safety.
Of course, it is bulkier compared to other 2.5-inch cases, but personally, I am not concerned about this kind of portability.
One of the products that I would give 6 stars if I could!
Compared to other hdd/ssd cases where you constantly need to have a screwdriver with you to open them, this one solves your problem. You simply open the case like a wallet, secure it, and it works. Also, you don't have the fear that with cheaper cases the screw might come off and the disk won't be recognized, etc. If I were to spend more money, it would be for a case that supports faster speeds.
I upgraded a 7-year-old laptop with an SSD and extra memory, the old 640GB HDD was put into the Adata to become an external drive. Very good application, there is also a cushion that you stick inside to protect the disk in case it falls. Good build quality, it looks sturdy and durable.
I bought this specific case with the purpose of reusing an old 2.5" 1TB HDD for file backup purposes at 5,400RPM.
I must admit that I am absolutely satisfied because:
1 - The build quality is very good, with a hard plastic exterior and an internal HDD slot that is "just right" so that there is no chance of it being loose. Of course, the package also includes two stickers with different thicknesses to stick on the cover and apply pressure to the disk if needed.
2 - There is no need for a screwdriver since the disk is not screwed onto this case, it is not required.
3 - File transfer (due to USB 3.1) in a quick test I did is at 100 - 105MB/sec, which I find great for the work I will be using the HDD for. For the transfer, I used the provided cable, which is very short in length but it suits me perfectly.
4 - It gives me the assurance that during transportation/use outside the office (e.g. during a photoshoot in the countryside where I might need on-the-spot backup), it will both protect the HDD completely and not suffer more than the usual scratches in case it falls on a rough surface.
5 - Due to its price, personally, it helped me acquire an external HDD for file backup at satisfactory speeds in the most economical way.
From price to quality, everything is worth it. As a well-known brand, it was the first one that attracted me to this market, and I don't regret it at all. Easy installation of HDD or SSD, as long as it is 2.5 inches and 7 to 9mm thick, if I'm not mistaken. The cable that comes with the device is relatively small, but the USB version is 3.1! I use it on my laptop and it does exactly what it says - no disconnections, no delays. I have an 80GB HDD and I've added music, movies, and games, and everything works perfectly. Lastly, it also includes 2 cushions to prevent the disk from moving inside in case it is thinner.
It's fine, just that I don't know if it will hold up for disk insertion and removal, as the disk needs to be lifted a bit.
I bought it 1 month ago for €12 and now it's €10.
EDIT
I am writing today to say that it creates problems with the disks, maybe due to temperature or power supply.
Awesome value for money, very sturdy and very easy case.
It also provides shock protection to the discs with the way they fit inside it, I hope it doesn't sell out from the market soon, as currently it is only sold in one store.
Amazing case. Incredibly easy installation! You can easily switch between two hard drives without a case according to your needs. And very good quality. Adata warranty. I highly recommend it.
