Although it is a four-channel sound card, it has only one output for a mixer. This means you cannot do external mixing. The pitch faders feel like they will break in your hand. Volume, cross-fader, and pitch, three different qualities. The output volume is low even if you select 0db headroom in Traktor. Otherwise, it is a relatively good controller, but I would not recommend it for professional use. I expected much better from NI!
Translated from Greek ·Did you find this review helpful?After the gaming console I had to practice, the Native Instruments Traktor Kontrol S2 initially seemed to me a very serious and sturdy tool-machine. Indeed, the jog wheels have a nice feel, its weight suggests good construction and not fake Chinese, and overall all the adjustment buttons for volume - bass treble mid etc are nice. Just be careful with the right speed potentiometer (pitch fader, I mean the right one) because it is at the edge of the console and at the first party I brought it to, it got damaged and the 2 DJs who were going to play with it couldn't change the speed (+12% -12% or depending on how much you adjust it +/-8% etc). With a carelessness in how we took it out of the box, the potentiometer was hit and didn't work (resulting in us being disappointed at the party that we couldn't use one of the basic functions for which you buy a DJ console. Fortunately, the cooperating Service with Nakas from where I bought it repaired it for free because it turned out that the base of the potentiometer had simply come loose and nothing was broken, so because it was brand new, they didn't charge me anything).
Overall, with 8 cue points that you can set on each track, I think there are enough buttons for cue points.
The installation was very easy, you connect it and the operating system (for Windows I mean) automatically recognizes the Traktor sound card, and the Traktor Dj Studio software also automatically recognizes the console, so from there on you only have to make the custom settings you want through the application. A downside is that it does not include a power cable from a power outlet because sometimes the connection - power supply through USB hits "red" as it requires a lot of power (especially when you connect it via a USB Hub with multiple USB ports like I do). There are rare moments when my operating system gives me a message that a USB is asking for too much power and the port cannot handle it, but this is rare and after a while it stops complaining and works normally).Overall for the price category of ~300€ it is a very decent, if not top-notch, console for those who want to play with Traktor Dj Pro/ Traktor Scratch Pro/ etc. I have not tried if it communicates with other programs (Virtual Dj / MixMeister). I reserve judgment and will come back with an Edit.

Generally, the effects are delayed quite a bit and clip if you change them quickly, which made me buy separate effects controller as well as a sound card for better performance. For its price and construction, it is worth it, but for professional use, I recommend someone to buy extra effects and a mixer with a sound card. Also, the jogs do not work in pitch mode, only in scratch mode, and it does not come with Traktor 3 as advertised. It has been a year since I bought it and many of us have played with it, but none of us have found a solution to the issues I mentioned.

I used to be a user of a very bad and small Hercules console, which after a lot of effort and suffering, somewhat managed to handle the program in a club. But I reached my limits and decided that I wanted a change. My first goal was always the S2Mk3. The main reason is Traktor, because I used to play with Traktor on the Hercules. Compared to the competition in this price range, it is a great value for money and it also includes the code to download Traktor Pro 3 for free through Native Access, something that cannot be done with Pioneer. It is an amazing console, now my changes in many parts come out very easily and the Filters are great. Let's talk about the negatives. Firstly, it does not come with the power supply, I know you can play without it, but guys, your laptop needs to have a great power and strength in the USB port and of course, it needs to be 3.0. My laptop is not a MAC (which I want like crazy) and it is just a good HP. i3, 8GB Ram, Geforce 280M, 480GB SSD, it easily handles everything but we have an issue with the sound, it cannot give the maximum power to the console and therefore the console does not have much power. Whoever tells you that the console does not have power does not know. As soon as I connected it to the desktop, which is clearly more powerful and has a good motherboard, the console produced incredible sound and power, so the issue is not the console or the XLR that it does not have, the issue is your source. So you need to get the power supply, the original one costs 25 euros here on Skroutz, but for me, you can find one of equal quality to the Native one for 10 euros because essentially you are paying for the brand. The second negative is the lack of XLR. Of course, I would have liked the XLR more for more ways of connecting the sound and not just with RCA. In conclusion, we are talking about a console that delivers exceptional performance everywhere without any difficulty or problem, very good construction and buttons. If I had the financial ability, I would definitely go for the S4Mk3. Buy without fear!!!
