It's a shame that I trusted the Oleo-Mac brand, since it is the same factory as Efco and they have the same models and spare parts. Until now, I had the 746 model and it was a disaster. We also had two chainsaws of the same brand and two Oleo-Mac water pumps, one 50 cc and one 100 cc (the latter is no longer sold here, only abroad, as it is very powerful). Unfortunately, the Efco 5300t burned out its electronics within a year. The local representative, who was not very reliable, said that the carburetor was clogged and the warranty had expired. I had to spend 80 euros on a new electronic part, including brake pads. However, I changed the head to a green iron grass head with a long nylon string. The nylon string head breaks easily and throws out a lot of string, so it needs a universal head with short, thick nylon strings that can work at high speeds and cool down with up and down movements on the grass and weeds. This way, it can reach full speed in the air, as high speeds cut the grass and with the high speeds, the flywheel turns quickly and cools down. Also, with the change in speed, it prevents the spark plug from short-circuiting due to constant speeds, which results in the burning of the spark plug and the electronics. Be careful with the new spark plugs they sell, as they have an aluminum screw cap that loosens with temperature and does not make contact, causing the machine not to start. I opened holes in the plastic cover above the spark plug with a heated nail and passed a wire through it, which holds the pipe steady on the spark plug. If you need to change the pipe, always have a professional do it and use a pipe clamp without the screw cap. I prefer it because it has a thicker and shorter handle than the others, and you can reach and clear the grass easily without having to turn it off and lower it. Also, with a shorter handle, I can transport it more easily and it fits comfortably in my car, on the back of my truck, and on the trailer I tow with my motorcycle. It also has a thicker bar with 10 teeth and a heavy-duty head. However, it requires constant maintenance and lubrication with graphite grease, especially in the summer when it overheats if you push it too hard and cut thick iron grass or thick weeds. Unfortunately, Oleo-Mac Efco used the same brake pads and brake springs on a powerful engine, which causes premature wear on the brake pads. It should have had larger and stronger brake pads and springs, like those on a Husqvarna chainsaw. If you don't pay attention to the brake pads, they wear out prematurely and damage the brake drum. The genuine brake pads are red, but many mechanics install cheaper white ones from Taiwan, which have a Taiwanese spring. As a result, the spring of the brake pads and the genuine spring are weak compared to the power of the machine, causing the brake pads to lock onto the drum and wear out prematurely. Be careful where you take the machine for repairs. I gave mine to someone, and he installed the genuine brake pads, but he kept it for over a month and used it for odd jobs. When he returned it to me, it was half dismantled with worn-out brake pads, a broken spring, and a completely damaged drum. The head was spinning like crazy at idle. I will never give it to anyone for repairs again. I have the tools to change the brake pads and springs on Chinese grass trimmers, as I have done it many times without causing any damage. I have broken fins on the flywheel, so be careful. It requires an extractor tool, either a two-piece wide iron piece with angled edges that can function as an extractor tool with light taps, or a special pliers with tips for removing and installing the retaining clips in front and behind the drum bearing. I can do it because I have changed brake drums, springs, and pads many times on Chinese grass trimmers without causing any damage. Be careful, as the fins are made of soft aluminum and break easily. It requires alien wrenches, the thick alien wrench with a star shape is included in the machine's packaging. It is the special alien wrench for the thick screws of the base of the drum. That's why it's good to have a complete set of alien wrenches, etc. , carbide, despite my experience, besides breaking a wing of the flywheel, I also caused damage to the gas lever connection and wiring when I reattached it and made various attempts to make it work with the button. Additionally, the machine has an issue with the blue air button on the carburetor, it doesn't have a good spring and doesn't stay securely in place and it fluctuates with vibrations and goes up as you work, and it gets clogged and turns off and doesn't start again, it takes time to start again and you struggle to get it going and it damages the starter. It's a shame, I called the company's headquarters and sent an email to Italy, but they didn't respond to my email from the headquarters in Athens they told me that I had to send the machine to the headquarters in Athens during the warranty period, but I'm not going to rush to pay for shipping and run from the village to the city, it's a total of twenty kilometers round trip. Not to mention that no company covers the warranty for electronics and electrical components, they are considered consumables like brake pads and belts, but to the Italians at Emak, whom I emailed in Italy, I suggested sending them the burned electronic part for examination and to see what's wrong so they can improve this unacceptable situation, but they didn't even respond to me. It's a shame that Italy has come to produce substandard machines and doesn't even care to improve them. Update 3-1-2023: finally, in September 2022, after two years of purchase, the piston cylinder burned. Cylinder and piston cost 175 euros, but there will be additional expenses for gaskets and flanges, and 60 euros for the mechanic's labor. They told me it's because of the oil I used, they said I shouldn't use fully synthetic oil in the gasoline, as the cheaper semi-synthetic oil provides better lubrication, and I fell for it. Also, I didn't let the engine cool down constantly for hours, and I worked it hard with long sessions in the heat and uphill, while it needed to cool down after each tank. I repaired the other two smaller trimmers and I will take care of them, I will let them cool down after each tank and I will work with the others. I also made another mistake and added lead substitute to the gasoline, supposedly to prevent knocking, and the mechanic told me that lead substitute is only for 4-stroke engines to lubricate the valves, and that it damages 2-stroke engines. He saw scratches inside the cylinder and black residue in the gasoline, possibly from the lead substitute. And the carburetor needed repair on the membranes and adjustment many times the carburetor for a good brand like Efco for the lighter Kawasaki I read somewhere that it ((shaves)) the axles but the Italian Kawasaki with Japanese axle does not shave it and has never burned a Kawasaki unfortunately I made a mistake and bought an Italian one next time Japanese unfortunately Italians have greatly reduced the quality, I suspect that for the destruction of the engines perhaps adulterated gasoline with ethanol is to blame, my suspicion is reinforced by the fact that a blocker with a large synchronous yacht with a diagnostic check on the dashboard for adulterated fuel when it came from Italy for vacation commented that when he refueled at fuel stations of various companies on the fuel diagnostic instrument of the yacht the warning light came on warning him of adulterated fuel and that only at Sel fuel stations the warning light does not come on, note that according to legislation fuel companies have the right to add ethanol as cheaper than gasoline additive to fuel up to a certain percentage, the above percentage from the upper legal limit, that is, adulteration there is no way after the damage to the engine to determine in which phase it occurred and by whom, Adonis Georgiadis recently said on television when his ministerial car was damaged by adulterated fuel, that is, no one can determine if the adulteration occurred at the refinery, during transportation, or at the fuel station and by whom. The Oleo Mac 746, the same brand and factory as Efco, we had for many years even though we put cheap old oil in the gasoline from the gas station, it lasted for many years and this one here at the limits of the warranty burned the electronic before the expiration of the warranty and immediately after the expiration of the warranty the cylinder-piston that I put in it and good semi-synthetic oil.
Awesome machine, when it's turned off it's a bit heavy, but when you put it in front to work, personally speaking for myself, it becomes a feather
