When we talk about a dictionary of psychoanalysis, specifically the one at hand, we strictly mean a dictionary of Freudian terminology, that is, the essential conceptual framework bequeathed to us by the founder of psychoanalysis himself, along with numerous close and loyal disciples, as well as some authors aligned with orthodox psychoanalysis.

The four-language format has been designed for essential and practical reasons. The linguistic starting point is undoubtedly German, from which the terms are rendered into the three other languages: Greek, which is our primary concern, as well as English and French, the other two languages with the widest dissemination in our country.

These were, after all, the first two recipients of Freud's work, and it was in these languages that the transplantation of German-speaking psychoanalytic theory was early and systematically tested.

The practical reasons that led us to a four-language approach, and indeed to a quadruple layering, so that each of the four languages appears.
