The book contains 20 particularly beloved traditional melodies, arranged for harmonium and guitar. The main elements of these arrangements are:
a) An unadorned version of the melody is adopted,
b) Conventional triadic chords are used and harmonic movement is drastically limited, as rich harmony is foreign to the traditional style,
c) The rhythmic pattern of the accompaniment is recorded in the second staff, while the harmonic patterns of the accompaniment match the traditional style.
Information is also provided about the scale and harmony of the melody.
